"Castiel?" Rita called after knocking lightly on the door. Though the angel was rarely around the bunker, he did get a room to call his own. That was the only room that remained the very same since the beginning, maybe because Cas loved simplicity or maybe because, as he insisted, he truly had no use of bedrooms.

The thoughtless apparition scared her, as much as it scared the boys, only now, Rita has finally been convinced that a quicker way to get some answers was definitely letting the angel roam her mind, not just wait to find that witch again. So she decided to stay there and stop going out with the boys on every occasion.

The first day, Castiel was absent, and hoping this won't become a habit, Rita decided to try again. This time around, the door opened, and the angel stared at her, confused.

"I didn't know you're here," he admitted, lacking any sort of color in his serious tone. It was calming to speak with someone as unbiased as him. "Are Sam and Dean...?"

"No," Rita quickly straightened up, pulling her jacket closer around her. The bunker was an unnecessarily cold place when one didn't know how to turn the heating on. "I stayed behind, because I wanted to take you on your offer."

"Which offer?" Castiel narrowed his eyes at her.

"Can you really look into my mind and figure everything out?" She tilted her head gently to the side and the angel sighed.

"Dean said..."

"I know what Dean said."

She wasn't certain the first time Castiel presented her the idea, but were it not for Dean's words of how Castiel might even kill her by forcing her mind apart, Rita would have agreed. Now, regardless of the dangers, she crossed her arms at her chest, certain.

"I can't die," she tried to reason.

"You only came back once," Castiel shook his head. Understanding human behavior was hard, but at least behind Dean's behaviour he could glimpse at reasons. As his guardian angel, it was Castiel's duty to know the Winchester was very much in love, even if strongly or not yet. "We can't know for certain that you really can't die..."

"Unless we try," Rita insisted with a nod. "I'm starting to understand we might never catch up to that witch and the more we wait, the weirder I get. You're an angel, if there's anyone to trust, then that is you."

Castiel grimaced along the lines of a faint smile, "I am not exactly the type of angel you might be thinking of." But even with this doubt, he knew what Rita meant. Not knowing who you are and having your reality shatter before your eyes with each step was no easy thing.

So he laid her down on that bed he never used and sat on the chair, by her side. His hand hovered above her forehead and seeing as she seemed scared, Castiel stopped there, to explain. "I will look through your mind and anything in your subconscious that you cannot access. You will feel discomfort, because such deep thoughts are often hard to force to the surface and celestial bodies are known to be quite destructive in their true form."

"And what will I be doing apart from suffering?" Rita sighed gently, looking up at Castiel's hand.

"I'll put you to sleep. The mind will work easier with that. But...," the angel halted his words. "I may not be able to find out much, since I am not as strong as I used to be."

"Anything is good," Rita closed her eyes without any further hesitation. "Who knows, maybe you'll find God after all, angel."

She even tried to smile, but even that fragment of innocence was blown to pieces as soon as Castiel's hand descended onto her forehead and his eyes glowered in pure light. Though her body was asleep in a second, she felt the ghost of a sting making her squirm first.
