[48]-[Counterattack]

The fields around Amaryllis were filled with smoke, the sound of gunfire, the sound of metal hitting metal, as well as the littered bodies of Leo Units left and right. Indeed a warzone.

"Damn, they just don't stop. Is there really no end to these bastards?" Lubbock asked.

On the otherside of the battlefield, Liu pulled back his Lycan Unit, out of ammo and being targeted by two incoming Leo Units, "Dammit, can you just leave me the hell alone already?"

Liu stopped the Lycan Unit as he prepared to take a stand, pulling an axe, "There's no way in hell I'm going to lose to you assholes! Not before I see Rebecca one last time!" The first Leo Unit came in and Liu swung his axe, landing a perfect strike into the cockpit, killing the pilot. Liu then looked to the other, only to see it right on top of him.

Liu reacted as fast as he could, as the two swung their axes, getting each other with fatal hits, though Liu was able to land a deeper wound, killing the pilot instantly. While the Leo Unit had a slightly lighter swing, the blade cutting deep into Liu's gut, causing him to cough up blood as the large axe pierced him, "Liu? Liu! Answer me!" Sora yelled. Liu smiled, "No... this isn't... where it ends for me..."

Liu looked up to see another Leo Unit coming towards him, "I'm not going out like some little bitch!" Liu pulled out the axe out, causing more blood to pour out of his large wound. Using the axe, he struck the Leo Unit in the abdomen before forcing the axe up and eventually into the cockpit, almost ripping the Leo Unit in half.

Liu smiled and fell back into the cockpit, "Rebecca..."

"Liu! Just hang in there a bit." Sora said as he quickly came to Liu's aid, "S... Sora... don't waste your time... with me... I got this."

"You guys... just keep coming to my aid... worry... about youselves... for once" Sora closed his eyes as he listened to Liu talk, "After all... I have to... prove myself... to Rebecca..."

Sora gripped the controls to the Lycan tightly as he held back his emotions, forcing them down, "I understand, Liu. I'll leave these guys to you."

The Lycan Unit fell to its knees as it deactivated, either from the severe damage taken on, or because Liu died. It didn't matter. Sora left him behind and resumed his battle with the other Leo Units, "I'm counting on you, Liu. On all of you that have left us."

Above Venus the three cruisers remained in their place, sending out more Leo Units on occasion to aid in the battle below.

Orpheus stood silently as he looked at Venus, "They're still resisting. I expected as much, they are the same people that fought for several days in Anchorage. Even then, they only had a handful of people."

"Is Marxus still on Venus?"

"Yes sir, he's on the sidelines just as you ordered. Though it must be killing him to watch and not aid any of the men who are being killed."

Orpheus smiled, "Tell me, where is Junko now?"

"She just left the hangar and is heading down to the battlefield as we speak, sir."

"Good. It seems the final curtain on these people is finally coming down. I want you to keep Junko on standby once she arrives. I believe they'll have to lead by example when it comes time."

Underground, everyone who was still at HQ worked as hard and as fast as they could to open the tunnel again and get everyone through it once more. One the other size, Izumi did what she could as well, though with one of her arms still in a sling, work was slower for her. Only able to use one arm, "Izumi, need some help?" Izumi looked back to see a few guys carrying shovels.
