A Reason

"I refuse to believe that [Name]-san said that to you. No offense." Reiner nervously scratched the back of his neck. Saying that makes me more offended, asshole, Jean thought. "I know right, Reiner! Who would find that face attractive?!" Eren added. Jean could feel an anger symbol on his forehead appear mentally.

A horse slowed its pace and the figure riding it pulled their hood down. "As a matter of fact, I did say he wasn't ugly. Though I don't recall calling him attractive," [Name] explained. "That sort of bullying and degrading behaviour will not be tolerated, Yeager. Unless.." her [e/c] orbs landed on the victim, and pointed her index finger to his face. "Unless you have a degrading kink and you two are secretly having an affair whilst trying to hide it with mildly offending insults."

"I-... have no words." Connie gasped, actually considering the theory. "Disgusting." Ymir said. "Don't say that, Ymir. I've caught you sneaking out of your dorm in the midst of midnight into Christa's room."

Ymir was at a loss for words.

Fear flickered in the group's heart. A different fear, one that causes something else than trauma and terror; embarrassment. For [Name], it's the ultimate weapon, made to catch the enemy off-guard. Unfortunately for [Name], her enemy now wasn't kids telling her she's ugly, and a waste of space. Instead, her enemies were the ones ugly and a waste of space. She'd taken it into a consideration, of course. How did the bullies beat her? How did the bullies win?

Because they had superiority complex, believing every single action they've done was right? Was it the same way for Titans? Were they just trying to prove that Titans are better species than humans?

But then she realized the bullies didn't actually have superiority complex. Whenever she got cornered by them, it was for a reason. Whether it's negative or positive, like asking her for money or snatching the bread she had just bought. Why? She once had pondered. Why would they do that?

Soon after, she realized that they needed the money and the food for their family, who was starving, their days definitely numbered.

Everything happens for a reason, and the Present [Name] was having trouble finding it. Why would the Titans do this? Do Titans have families that need care? Could it be for themselves? Over the years, [Name] had a million questions, yet none of them have been answered. Except for one, of course. It was a question she had asked to Anadil, years ago.

"Do you think Titans can talk?"

"Huh? Are you on drugs?"

"No, deadass. I'm serious."

"It doesn't work like that, [Name]. Stay realistic."

"Anything could happen, Ani."

"You're unbelievable."

Wish she had seen Ilse Langnar's journal, she thought. But Anadil knew. She was watching her from up there, waiting for her friend to join her patiently.
