after the confrontation from his sister, they made no effort to speak to each other. dream found his new comfort in skating around before it would grow too cold to even go outside. today he opened the door to find his sister hadn't been sitting on the couch waiting for him to return. he sighed, removing his sneakers and leaving them by the door before making his way to his room. knowing he'd get nothing done if he just sat in the living room. disregarding the fact that he wouldn't do anything up in his room either.

advancing up the stairs it felt eerily quiet, perhaps his sister had gone out with her friends while he was out. he opened the door, feeling a smile flash at the familiar warm scent of his bedroom. he laid his board down beside the door, and set his bag down on top of it. he couldn't really remember why he had decided to go out and skate today but he figured it was important since he had been out for what seemed to be a few hours.

he took a seat at his desk where his sister sat before, removing his headphones and putting his phone away in the security of his pocket. he leaned back in the chair, the creaking noise of it's bolts almost echoing in the quiet of the room. again he sighed, but every movement halted when he heard shuffling behind him. slowly he turned from the desk, suddenly very scared about what could be behind him.

he stared at the mound under his blankets, assuming it was his sister, until his eyes came to focus on the tufts of brown hair that lay on his pillow instead of unruly gold. he stood from the chair, unaware of a game plan, practically diving into this head first. the mound shuffled, and the person turned to him from facing the wall.

the blonde felt his knees give out. he stopped himself from falling, scared that if he made too much noise the other would run from him. he admired his face from afar, trying to take in the beauty that had been unseen for so long before it was gone again forever. slowly the blonde advanced closer toward the bed, every scared bone in his body changed to longing.

his hand reached out to feel but he knew it wasn't his choice to touch. he cleared his throat knowing he'd have to wake up the peaceful brunette. "george?" the brunette smiled immediately after his name was voiced by the blonde. dream bit his lip, waves of happiness and sadness clashing in his heart. it had been so long, but if he was here now, how long would he stay?

the blonde's hands came to rest on the edge of the bed to distract his hands from the tempting feeling to reach out. eyelashes fluttered open, and the breath was knocked out of the blonde when their eyes met. just as quickly as the blonde's smile grew from excitement, the brunette's eyes grew with what could only be described as panic.

dream retracted his hands, trying to give the brunette room to breathe.

"dream?" the brunette sounded as relieved as the blonde felt. his heart filled when he heard his name leave the other's lips. they shared a smile, and george moved over on the bed to allow dream to lay beside him. "your sister said you'd be out for a while."

dream figured he should've spoken up but he had nothing to say and he didn't want to interrupt the brunette, just so he could bask in his voice. they sat in silence, staring at the ceiling, finally able to find comfort in just the other's company. but of course they were put here to talk, not to sit in each other's comfort.

"are you mad at me?"

dream sighed at the weight he felt reapplied to his already heavy shoulders. "i understand talking about things isn't as easy as it sounds but i wish you'd try to talk to me instead of just running." he kept his eyes glued to the ceiling but he could feel how the brunette turned to stare back at him. "everytime you randomly disappear i have to worry about jared, and i don't like that you still run to him looking for comfort because he really isn't good for you."

george turned back to the ceiling at the mention of his name. "i don't do it on purpose."

"i know. its just i feel like maybe i might care too much, but it feels so hard to love you sometimes." their eyes linked.

george smiled, reaching a gentle hand out to run feather light fingers against the skin of dream's face. "i know you talked to bad about this, i really am proud of you, i guess we're getting our problems in line and figuring this out together, and apart."

"apart?" dream felt like he was understanding everything too well and not understanding anything at all at the same time.

"there's still some loose ends don't you think?"

dream agreed and again they sat in silence lurking in the depths of each other's eyes.

"i still want to kiss you." dream felt better after voicing something he tried not to speak in his own mind, but then the feeling turned sour, when george retracted his hand.

"what?" both of them began to panic at the words, but the blonde was quick to hold the brunette's wrist before his touch was gone.

"if we really are figuring this out, then why don't i feel any less confused about everything happening." george's eyes held the same panic they had when their eyes met for the first time today. "i still want to kiss you." dream dropped the brunette's wrist, knowing the touch wasn't his to crave.

"let's leave that discussion for another day, another time when we're both in the right place."

he didn't want to talk about it, a time when they're both in the right place, didn't feel like it would come around anytime soon, years away in fact.

it was so nice out today and instead of going outside to skate for the first time in forever i decided to stay inside and write chapters for a book that nobody in my real life knows about...id like to say i have my priorities straight
