Mystery continued to drag you along, midst your pleas for him to stop or at the very least slow down. You passed by many rooms and doors, but eventually stopped at one that had a piece of paper taped to the front, which read, "DЯAWIИG ЯOOM" in that writing of his.

Mystery then let go, fiddled with the handle, and pushed the door open, with dust filling the air from the sudden force.

"Wha—" before you could finish, Mystery had, once again, grabbed you and shoved you in, causing you to stumble over your feet and nearly fall. But luckily, you had caught your balance just in time.

You stood up, taking in the appearance of the room. It looked just like the rest of the hospital, with its brightly colored walls, party-like decorations, and paper littered all over the floor. Occasionally you'd find a crayon or a colored pencil to be lying somewhere, but other than that, it didn't stand out much from the rest of the rooms you'd seen.

Mystery moved past you and sat down, gesturing for you to do the same. But you declined.

"No, I-I'm good," you managed to say, sort of shifting towards the door.

You were afraid to run away then, considering the fact that he was happy to have you as company and could very much so chase you down, and even possibly hold you captive. So you decided to wait it out, maybe when his back was turned, you could bolt it out of here.

Mystery just smiled and reached for a piece of paper, taking a crayon as he began to draw. You watched, every now and then glancing at the door or to the pile of drawings. They all seemed to be of Mystery, doing various childlike activities such as drawing or putting on shows for an audience made of dolls. It was kind of creepy, really. How even old was this man?

Just as the thought popped into your head, Mystery's voice had brought you out of your thinking process. "Finished!" he exclaimed, holding up the paper for you to see.

You took a closer look; it was a picture of you. Although crudely-drawn and made with only a few simple shapes and lines, you could still tell that it was meant to be you. Your name was even written at the bottom, "FЯIƎИD Y/И".

You were speechless for a moment, just taking the time to examine the picture he made for you. It was a kindly gesture but, still, you were put off by the overwhelming friendliness and cheer from this feline. It almost felt... fake, or even forced. But you accepted the drawing nonetheless.

"Oh.. thank you, Mystery, I.. I like it," you said as he handed the drawing over to you.

Mystery bared his teeth at you in a smile. "You're welcome!~" he chirped, and once again, gestured for you to sit down. You declined, but decided to just stand and watch as he continued to draw. You saw no harm in it, given that he was watching you every time you'd step away, obviously wary of you escaping.

The man continued on drawing for about 20 minutes, every once in a while asking you a random question in order to break the awkward silence. And you'd answer, but wouldn't go much into depth.

By then, the sun had already went down, the moon and night sky taking its place. You were even more anxious to leave now.

"Hey, Mystery?" you mumbled, turning to face him.

"Hoo? What is it, Friend Y/N?"

"Well, it's just.. it's getting late and, you know, I.. I really need to get hom—"

"Oh! But won't it be hard to get home through the dark?" he jumped to his feet, staring out the boarded window and noting the pitch black sky.

"Yeah, but—"

"Why don't you stay here til' the sun comes up? You can sleep in my room!"

Your face dropped at the mention of sleep. You, sleeping here? With Mystery? In this abandoned hospital? That thought just didn't sit well with you.

"No! Mystery, I'm serious. Y-You're really nice and, I don't want to be rude, but I just can't—"

"Oh, nonsense! You can stay here for as long as you need! C'mon, Mystery will show you to his room!" he then leaned forward and grabbed you by both of your shoulders. You tensed up, then started jerking around, crying out for him to let you go.

"M-MYSTERY! STOP! I CAN'T STAY HERE!" you unintentionally raised your voice, which caused Mystery to release his grip.

And boy, did he not look happy.

"But... Mystery just.. just wanted to spend more time with his new friend..." he sniffled, tears now pricking at the corner of his eyes.

Oh God. Was he crying?

A wave of guilt had washed over you as the man began to break down into tears. You reluctantly reached forward, and wrapped your arm around his.

"Mystery, no, no, it's okay. I.. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you. I was just," you sighed, your voice coming out low and shaky from the sudden draft. You rubbed your arms, freezing, and Mystery took notice.

"Are you cold?" he asked, but you shook your head.

"No, I'm fi—"

Before you could get the words out, you felt something fuzzy drape around your shoulders. You looked down; it was Mystery's lab coat. While it was old and even somewhat ripped, it provided a little bit of warmth thanks to Mystery's wear. You thanked him, and that seemed to cheer him back up.

"... Is Y/N sure they can't just stay here for a little longer? At least for the night?" he looked at you with eyes full of hope, and he tugged at your sleeve.

You had a good feeling that even if you were to say yes, he'd remain insistent on you staying. You gave a deep sigh... it was just for the night. You could handle that.

"I can stay here, but just for the night, okay?"

Mystery smiled. "Okay."
