One night I was working at my grocery store (I say 'my' like I own it, but I would honestly rather die a brutal death than live under the constant stress of owning a ghetto Aldi's), when a drunk foreign man came through my checkout lane. (I'm really just assuming he was drunk, maybe he always stumbles around and slurs his words, I don't know anything at all.)
I wasn't expected anything profound to come out of our 7:30 p.m summer night conversation. (I also wasn't expecting to spend the majority of my teenage afternoons in a grocery store, yet here we are.) At first, he was just speaking heavily-accented jibberish about how much he hated his wife and how he should've killed her while they were in vacation in Slovakia because the prison time for murder is less there, which seems like a logical train of thought to me. I was chuckling and going along with him (as he was an almost-murderer) when he asked me listen to him. This is what I can remember of what he mumbled towards me:
"Here, in this country, your country, AMERICA, they always tell you peoples that you are free. Science shows that if you repeat words over and over again, everyone believes you. They say you are free, you are free. They make you sing songs about your freedom and about how people died just for you to be free. But you aren't. You are a slave. Your a child and they've already got you. You will spend your entire life working for people to take your money. You are a slave to the dollar, you aren't free."
So, yes, that's where I coined the phrase that everyone is moneys bitch.I like it better made simple that way, and I feel like it pisses old people off, which, as a rebellious teen, is an activity that I enjoy participating in. And, no, I don't care if your offended by my lack of patriotism.
I don't really have a moral of the story or a happy ending, I just thought this was very true and interesting, and I think most people would benefit from a conversation with a drunk foreigner that is 30 years older than them, and has a murderous hatred for there "dumb fucking stupid whore wife."
