"Alright students! Make your way to your houses and let the sorting began!" Professor McGonagall started, as I watched into her eyes and smiled because it reminded me of my first day, when she guided us to the sorting ceremony and I remember shaking furiously because of how nervous I was.

I came back to life when Noah poked my cheek and I looked at him, "What happened? You keep zoning off,"

"Nothing, just bit tired.. Tuiqito didn't let me sleep at all." I sighed as both of us walked to the Hufflepuff table, earning waves from people, when all of a sudden someone attacked your back and you fell.

Looking back at Ginny giggling, "Oops... that wasn't supposed to happen." she helped you get on your feet and groaned when you felt a small concussion.

Harry started calling for Ginny and she looked at me with a sad smile, "Well, that's my cue! see you luv!" she ran like maniac with her hands up. I don't know, she's kinda' crazy.

The sorting ceremony passed pretty fast since there were less new students, probably about 20. "Okay students, the classes will start tomorrow. Shall the prefects lead you to your dorms." everyone started standing up when Professor McGonagall said "6th and 7th Years, please stay as we have something important to discuss." we sat back on our tables, as the rest of the students made their way out of the Great Hall.

Silence... I looked over at Noah and gave him a doubtful look, "This must be serious." I murmured to which he nodded.

"Ahem, the students who sacrificed themselves for Hogwarts. I'm sorry for your losses. Students died in the war. May their souls rest in peace. Their deaths caused a lot of decrease in the wizarding population to the point where the magic might extinct in Hogwarts." I heard some weeping and crying coming from some students at the mention of their deaths.

"Is everything okay professor?" Ginny asked.

McGonagall looked at her with a sad smile....

"Minister Kingsley Shacklebolt will explain you about the new law." She backed away making some space for the guy in violet robe. We all watched as he looked at us, inspecting our faces carefully, as if trying to look into our thoughts.

"The Ministry has found another way to cope up with the loss of wizards and witches, this might change a lot but it can't change the fact of our population being extinct. Unfortunately, wizards and witches 17 and older will have to marry each other within next year.''

I was enjoying my chicken when he said that and I started choking on it which gathered a lot of attention, some snickered and the rest were worried. Noah helped me clear my throat and gave me some pumpkin juice.

"There is NO way you're going to marry me off to someone!" Hermione yelled.

"Is the ministry mad?" Seamus's voice echoed through the hall.

"How dare you even think of this law Kingsley? I'M TOO YOUNG TO CARRY A CHILD!" Pansy Parkinson started throwing a tantrum.

The students were at the verge of throwing utensils at Kingsley. I saw that Hannah had grabbed a fork with a tight grip.

"This is the absolute worst that could've happened." Noah whispered to me, I was practically frozen, I couldn't process all of this in my brain.

"This is ABSOLUTELY MENTAL!" Blaise Zabini bellowed.

Kingsley was quite for a moment, letting all of the groans slowly die as he watched everyone's move. He was ignoring every witch and wizard's complaint and started again, "We will find your spouse by the help of the sorting hat, it's all we can trust now." He left.

McGonagall came back to the front, "That's all for today students, tomorrow you will be paired with your spout, now off to bed!"

I still couldn't process anything, what in the world was exactly happening? What about LGBTQ+ members? What about my future? Who will be my soon to be husband.. there are just too many questions... I can't deal with this, I finally thought to graduate Hogwarts and become a Quidditch player with Ginny in the Holyhead Harpies.

As I was walking to my house with angry Noah beside me, I couldn't think at all. "This is impossible! I've been waiting to ask Dean out since a very long time, and here we are, getting married to someone I never even talked to! This is ridiculous!" he was basically yelling as we entered our dorms.
