I woke up the next morning, still tired and exhausted because I couldn't sleep at all, thinking about the damned marriage law. Hannah Abbott came running our room- yeah, she's my roommate. "KATIE GUESS WHAT! you'll never believe this! oh my god I- I'm freaking out!" she ran like she completely lost her mind, and she started pulling my cover off of me.
"Hannah- not now! Let me cherish this moment! WHO KNOWS I'LL BE SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR TOMORROW??" I groaned as she jumped upside down, almost hitting her head on the top of my bed frame.
"AAAAH! GUESS WHAT!" she continued,
"Neville asked me out! He thought that if we might be couples, I'm sure Kingsley wouldn't break us" she mumbled.
"Oh wow, congratulations, I guess. I'm still hopeless, I haven't even had my first kiss yet! This is all going so miserably."
"Oh c'mon, don't be dramatic, I'm sure there is a Goyle waiting for you out there." she giggled.
"Oh shut up!"
"Anyways, Noah has been waiting for you!" she said while looking in the vanity mirror.
---
I got to the great hall with Noah and we realized that there were only the 7th and 6th years, which meant the sorting was gonna start. I walked towards my table and groaned as I sat down, I could barely regain my composure.
Hannah started telling everyone that Neville asked her out, she was blushing furiously.
"Katie, what if one of us gets paired with a Slytherin?" Noah asked, I opened my eyes wide realizing that it might be possible, "Oh no, Noah- no no no, that is gonna be very difficult to settle with!" He looked at me with worry, "But it's impossible to avoid it." I exhaled with frustration.
"I doubt."
"Good morning students! I know very well that none of you want to participate by the looks of your faces, but here we are- I want you all to know that I tried my best convincing the Ministry to not apply this rule." McGonagall presented, knowing very well how angry we all we were.
"But it seems to me that you didn't even try Professor!" Theodore Nott glared at her with rage and anger, "Mr Nott, you do know that I can't do anything about it because it's the Ministry you're talking about,"
"If all so, I'm happy to inform that the people who are perfect couples will not be broken off, and any LGBTQ+ member here can come to my office and I will gladly remove your name from the list. Let's start!"
We all sat in silence, scared to think of the upcoming.
"Hannah Abbott!"
I looked at her and she was as pale as she could ever be, I gave her a thumbs up, saying; "What's the worst that can happen? Besides she said that she wont break the perfect couples, you guys are perfect!", I assured her, "Thanks Katie, but that's not what I'm worried about..."
"then what is?"
"I'm holding a fart right now... what if I explode in front of everyone if I hold it too long??" She looked at McGonagall then back at me.
Noah tried holding his laugh while I tried to process a reaction. She got up, walking slowly towards McGonagall. She sat on the stool and looked towards me, I could see her sweating, while Noah was chewing on his food and burped, I gave Noah a disgusting look; "What? Since when was burping illega-" Noah said when he was interrupted by his own burp.
I just looked away trying not to throw up. I noticed Ginny looking at my with her hands up, signing me to come over, I walked over to the Gryffindor's table to sit besides Ginny. She gave me a smile before patting on the empty seat beside her, I sat by her and stared at Ron eating exactly like Noah.
We stared as the sorting hat started talking to Hannah.
"Neville Longbottom!"
We all broke into cheers and whistles, Hannah started blushing as she went over to sit with Neville who was right in front of me, "HANNAH! SEE, I told you that you wouldn't fart-" I clapped my hand on my mouth as everyone on the table near me gave me confused stares, and Hannah glaring at me. I felt like the need to die to the point where Ginny couldn't control her laughter.
"Katie Bennete!"
I froze....
