Here I am, standing alone in the midst darkness of the night in this local neighborhood. I don't mind though, you see. I chose things to be like this. I could have went along with what he was trying to make me do or I could have avoided getting into that mess and figure things out for myself. For the good of myself.

I examined the sight around me and suddenly found myself getting quite tired. I had just finished sprinting as fast and far as I can and I am still trying to catch my breath. I find a bench near a lamppost and decide to go rest there for a bit, to replenish my energy and to just sit and admire the view and of being alone. I like being alone.

I begin to close my eyes and as soon as I do, my phone rings, completely startling me. I quickly reached for my phone out of my back pocket and see the caller Id. It's my best friend, Demi.

"Hello?"
I managed to say in a very calm voice.

"Dude, where the hell are you at!? You were supposed to come to my place to help each other study, remember?!"

Her voice was furious and I couldn't help but to laugh as I was still stuck in my thoughts and I didn't really know what to say.

"Stella, this isn't funny, tell me where you are at?!"

I sighed and put myself back to reality. I've already pissed her off and I wouldn't want to make her more mad at me cause trust me, overly pissed off Demi, isn't the greatest thing.

"You're right. This isn't funny and I am actually not in a good state right now. Erik pressured me into going to his place to talk and he was trying to convince me to stop engaging in my studies and stuff just so I can spend all my time with him."

I said pausing to hear a response to know that she is still there and listening.

"Oh my gosh!! what?! No! ugh keep going."

"I told him that I was definitely not going to push my education away just for him and he just blew up on me. He got so angry..and then he got violent and-"

"Don't tell me he hit you Stella Marie, please tell me he didn't", said Demi interrupting me.

"He did..he grabbed my arm, turned me around, and slapped me across the face."

Tears started rushing down my cheeks as I looked down at my arm that was now bruising. He had aggressively grabbed on to it to pull me around and then up to my face that still stung like a bitch. I quickly talked again before she could say anything.

"Then, i-i ran away and now I'm h-here alone sitting on a bench talking to you." I muffled to say.

Demi takes a while to respond and all I can hear now is that rush of air indicating that she was moving and the phone was being taken with her. After what seemed like hours, but was only literally a minute. I hear her take a deep breath.

"I'm in my car and I'm coming to get you, I'll be there in 10, okay?"

It then took me a moment to respond as I was now trying to calm down and not let my ugly sob take control. "

"Okay."
I said very shakily. The call ended. I sat my phone down next to me and put my hands in the pockets of my half denim hoodie. I didn't feel it before from all the adrenaline I had but I feel it now. It was freezing and the fresh tears that kept rushing down my face wasn't making anything better.
