What in the hell just happened?
My eyes felt super heavy but I managed to open them enough to see that I am now in a hospital room. My head was in total pain and it was driving me crazy.Suddenly, a nurse came in. A petite woman with short blonde hair that was tied up in a ponytail.
"Ah, you're finally awake. Here take these. It'll take the pain from your head away."
Without saying a word, I grabbed the pills from her hand. Taking them and finishing it off with the cup of water that was on the cabinet top next to me.
I looked up at the nurse, my eyes beginning to tear up. Here we go.
"It'll all be okay. Your family was just here but I told them to all go home. That we'll take good care of you. They'll come pick you up later on. Well, depending if you feel well and-"
"Where's Zach?" I asked.
Remembering all about him and the fight he had gotten with the terrifying unknown man.
"Oh..ha he's in the other room. He's fine too. He's sleeping it off just like you were."
"Can I see him?" I asked, looking up to the nurse again, hoping for her permission.
"I'm sorry but no. You need to let him get his rest and you should continue on resting too." The nurse said as calmly as she could.
I sighed.
"Okay"
"Okay. I will be back in an hour to see how you're doing again" she smiled. I guess she was trying to help me feel better but it wasn't working to be honest.
And with that the nurse exited out of the hospital room.
I leaned back down and turned my body to the right. There in front of me was the clock.
2:47 am.
I was not tired anymore and I was worried sick about Zach. I desperately wanted to see him.
I sat for about five more minutes until I found myself getting out of the hospital bed.
I came across the mirror that was placed on the wall by the exit. I looked a mess. My hair was not straight anymore. It was up and wavy. My arm, purple and black with the bruise. My eyes heavy and slightly red.
I opened my door and quickly made my way to Zach's room. Thankfully, there were no doctors or nurses there. I closed the door shut behind me and continued walking up to the hospital bed. There he was.
He was so pale. He had a black eye and his skin was filled with freshly new scars and bruises.
What man could have done this to us? It's crazy how fast the night changed. It started off so amazing. And now here we are. Zach and I at the hospital. Just like that. I was gently brushing his hair back and watching him sleep. Hoping he would wake up as soon as possible.
"Zach?"
I decided to speak to him, anticipated to hear him speak back, or to even wake up. I've never wanted so badly to see his beautiful eyes look up at me again.
I sat there with him for a good 15 minutes until he finally managed to open his eyes.
I was dozed off. Staring at the plain white wall, feeling myself get super tired and it was there when he spoke. He said my name, startling me a bit and getting my full attention.
"Zach! You're finally awake! How do you feel? Are you okay?! I am so sorr-"
"Stella, I'm fine. I promise"
He tried so hard to give me a smile but quickly gave up."You're in pain. Do you want me to get the doctor?!" I exclaimed. Getting up from the bed.
"No, no. Sit down. I just feel a bit odd."
I sat back down and looked at him. His eyes were wandering off somewhere else and there was a bit of a silence.
"Do you know who that man was, Stella?"
"I am clueless"
"Do you wanna know?"
"Yes! Of course! Who was it!?"
"It was David." He said.
"I don't know a David. Who the fuck is he and why did he do this to us?!"
Zach looked at me. He gave me a very disappointed look and turned his face away from me.
"Zach.."
He didn't budge. He did not look back at me.
There again, we stayed silent for a while.
I was still staring at Zach. Hopelessly waiting for him to turn back. Finally, he came back to me.
"You should know who he fucking is Stella. Considering the fact that it's kind of your fault this happened."
"What?! How is it my fault?! I don't even know the guy! He's like way over 20 or something! How could-"
"He's one of Erik's friends!" Zach shouted. A little way too loud. A harsh look on his face.
I took a moment to myself, trying to think back to all the times I was with Erik.
"David Statham..he used to hang with him all the time. They were almost like brothers."
Zach looked up to meet his eyes to mine.
I sighed.
"He probably came to get revenge on me. I got his brother in jail and broke his heart and upset him. Oh my god Zach I am so sorry!"
Tears began rolling down. I couldn't help it. I felt so horrible and guilty. This all happened because of me.
Zach stayed quiet but decided to lean up from his bed and placed a kiss on my forehead.
"It's okay Stella. Stop apologizing. I ain't mad. And I mean, at least we're both okay." He smiled at me, letting me know that he meant what he just said.
Before I could speak, the door in the room furiously opened, revealing the nurse.
"Ugh there you are Stella! And oh! Zach, you're finally awake."
"I'm so sorry." I said to the nurse. Feeling guilty once again for disobeying her.
"It's fine. Are you guys feeling okay?"
We both nodded yes.
"Good, good. I already gave you both your medications and um..oh! Zach, there is somebody here to see you."
The nurse opened the door to reveal a man that I have not seen in a very, very long while.
He was tall. Dark brown hair and those familiar cerulean blue eyes that I swear I've seen before.
It can't be.
Zach's father.
