''My turn. Batman or Superman?'' she asked already relishing the triumph of this approaching victory.

''Though question... uhm... Batman.'' He replied throwing the Doritos at her in a perfect trajectory from the kitchen. He had eaten the last bag they had found on their salvage run to the city, this one was hers and hers only.

''Why? Superman can fly, you don't need anything else, and you could just fly away from the revs.'' She thoroughly thought this one through, there was no way she walked away without winning.

''Ya that would be useful, but c'mon a fucking bat mobile.'' he looked at her, with that smirk, she’d never win. In those times when she thought rationally, he escaped to another mindset, free of war and revs. He made her believe, something that was extremely hard to do in these circumstances.

She laughed; he did too, that beautiful smile. We weren't laughing at each other, they were laughing at our situation. Our shitty world revolutionised watching your back twenty four seven situation. Teenagers never in a million years would have to go through this, adults either but they’re the one who caused it and then fell upon the laps of younger generations.

The alarming sounds of their underground sound wave system in the kitchen made them attentif in an instant.

''Take your sword, it may be just one.'' Jakob said getting up and opening the weaponry off of the library. His movement fast but precisely beautiful. He travels through space, tall and agile, like the king she sees in him.

''How did they find us? We haven't seen or heard of any revs in three years.'' She said placing a gun in the space between her lower back and jeans. In this never ending war you could never be safer; She placed two extra clips in each of her back pockets, she had a feeling, that feeling, when peace is disrupted it isn’t for granted, you take it in, absorb every possibility and believe in the fact that you may fall but you may also rise.

''I don't know, let's just... shit! Mr. Nuggets!'' he screamed annoyed. She laughed, Mr. Nuggets, their fat cat, was rubbing his grey furred body against his legs while he was trying to place an arrow on his crossbow.
''Why did we ever get a cat in the first place anyway?''

''Because getting a cat is the humanly thing to do. There's at least one thing that keeps us human.'' She said walking towards the front door. She looked at the two window along the side of the door, the sun shining through, it was a beautiful day. You could almost forget yesterday’s worries, breath in and fall into a restful mindset like a Saturday morning as a child full of possibilities.

''A cat? Really? I guess a dog would bark if ever it heard a noise but anyways last time I checked, humans could die, so be safe.'' he said catching up to her. Her face in that sunlight, he wishes that door would never have to open again, that they could stay in this house. Before them this house was someone’s home, they ran away leaving everything behind. Maybe they’d come back someday, to a familiar environment.

They looked at each other for two milliseconds, his jaw was clenched and his warm brown eyes showed worry. They hadn't fought a rev in years, what if something happened to them. That they would never come back to this life, in this home, with each other.  As she looked into his reassuring gaze, he leaned down and kissed her. Not on the lips, but her forehead, a protection spell of its own. They both knew the meaning of this action.

''We'll see you later Mr. Nuggets.'' She said trying to form a small smile. ''Don't eat my Doritos, you’re already too fat as it is.''
