Raindrops dripped on the little brick cottage's windows. Mrs. Witch was plucking feathers of a chicken, and Midnight was out hunting mice. Sarah had completely nothing to do, so she decided to read some of Mrs. Witch's old spellbooks.
Sarah went to the tall, wooden bookshelf. She picked out a leather book that read: 'Guide to Magical Herbs and Spells'
"Sounds interesting," Sarah said, as she opened the book. She skimmed through the pages. There were a few drawings of different herbs and plants, and what they could be used for.
After a bit of reading, Sarah put the book in her leather satchel she found. I don't think Mrs. Witch would mind! She thought.
Soon, the rain stopped slowly. The forest was damp and wet. Sarah wished she was wearing her favorite pair of rain boots, so she could explore the soaked woods.
"Mrs. Witch?" Sarah asked the old lady, realizing her stomach was empty, "Do you have anything to eat?"
The witch turned around, "Hmm..maybe some leftovers of my Surprise Soup!"
Sarah had no idea what a 'Surprise Soup' was, but she didn't want to be rude, so she nodded. Mrs. Witch snapped her fingers, a cold soup popped on the table.
"Uhm...thanks, I guess!" Sarah said, not knowing if the soup was edible or not. She picked up the bowl of soup.
Yikes! Sarah thought with a shiver,This thing is ice-cold! She managed to carry the soup to the squished basement.
Sarah made her way to her bed. She sat on it, and accidentally spilled some of the frozen soup onto the blankets.
"Oops!" She gasped, and tried cleaning the drop of the meal. But, however it stayed permanent onto the bed.
Sarah groaned, "Never mind. I guess it's time to taste test this...soup." She sniffed it. It smelled pretty gross. Sarah gulped, and used the metal spoon to take a bite.
"BLEH!" Sarah spat. The soup tasted horrible! She started, "This is the worst-"
Suddenly, a little fairy with blond hair and clover-green eyes popped out next to the soup bowl Sarah was holding. "Is this meant to be the surprise of the soup?" Sarah asked, annoyed.
The little fairy nodded. She was wearing a dress made out of leaves. She had pointy ears. The fairy looked like a fairy-elf mix.
"Yes, this is the surprise," The fairy said, in a high-pitched voice, "I'm basically here to help you, of course!"
Sarah frowned, "Yeah yeah, and I have three wishes or something?"
"No! I'm not a genie!" The fairy yelled, angrily, "I'm a FAIRY! F-A-I-R-Y!" She spelt out. Sarah tried not to laugh at the funny fairy, it looked quite hilarious.
Finally, the fairy calmed down. "What's your name?" Sarah asked, as she set the ice cold soup on the small nightstand.
"I'm Melody," she said, "and I come from the Eastern forest!" She said, her blue-green wings fluttering rapidly, "What's yours?"
"I'm Sarah," Sarah said, simply.
Melody raised an eyebrow, "And? Where are you from?"
Sarah thought for a moment, "California."
Melody looked at Sarah as if she had grown another eye, "California? Where's that? I've never heard a place called California here."
"I'm from another world, okay? I fell into a book, Ella created you, and I need to find a way to get back!" Sarah blurted out.
Melody smiled, "Tell me more!"
