Ink buried his head in his hands and groaned. It wasn't often that inspiration eluded him, but when it did he was left struggling to do anything for weeks on end. He would usually lock himself in his studio until he made something passable, but lately...
"Ink, love, it's almost dinner time." Nightmare called up the ladder. "I made your favorite!" When no reply came from the intrepid artist Nightmare decided to take action.
He knew that Ink had been suffering from a creative block, and he was determined to help, so he had ordered a little something online the day before that he hoped would help his favourite aficionado.
The outfit was Japanese in origin, being either a Kimono or a Yukata- he could never remember the difference. It was mostly blue, with some lavender, white, and red accents, and the skirt fell around his mid thigh. Overall, it was a nice outfit of decent quality. The part that made the outfit perfect was the sakura tree that they had in the back, constantly in bloom thanks to Ink having made it that way. Hopefully, it would serve as good inspiration for the painter.
"Inky, darling, I'm coming up there."
Predictably, there was no response, so Nightmare climbed up to the attic-turned-studio to retrieve his mate. Ink was staring at an empty canvas, which had been painted with a very pale grey to make it more bearable for him.
Nightmare knocked on a support beam to alert the other of his presence. "Oh! I didn't even notice you come in, what's up Nigh?"
"Ink, did you hear me calling you down?"
"Uhh, nope! Did you need me for something?"
"Figures. Dinner's ready, and I have a surprise for you."
"Ooo, I love surprises!"
"So you want me to wait here?"
"Mm-hm, I'll be back out in just a moment."
After reentering the house, Night went into the bathroom and changed into the outfit. He also grabbed Ink's on-the-go art bag and a few props that he figured would work well with the scene.
"I saw this the other day and figured that you might enjoy it..."
"Wow. You look really pretty in that."
"Thanks..."
Ink had definitely found his inspiration.
