"Well... This is certainly new," Chara muttered, as they floated above the small patch of golden flowers. "Frisk should have fallen down by now."

At first, Chara simply waited.   After a couple of days passed, they started to think that maybe this wasn't so bad.   After all, it's not like Frisk had ever done anything for them, unless you count blaming them for eons of genocides and RESETs, which Chara did not, thank you very much.

They waited a few days longer before deciding that Frisk just isn't coming and heading off to go do whatever it was that Chara did in their free time, not realizing the mistake that they were making.

It was a beautiful day outside, or at least, as beautiful as it can get in the Anti-Void.  For the first time that Error could remember, the Anti-Void was silent.  The voices that usually plagued the realm were oddly quiet today.  Usually on days like this, Error would be making dolls for the Charas, or catching up on UnderNovela, but today he had something much more entertaining to watch unfold.

A Chara was missing from their AU.

Now, this wouldn't be an issue unless that AUs Frisk had to LOAD or RESET for some reason, and wouldn't 'cha know, this Frisk had been put through a Failed Genocide route, and could no longer RESET to undo it.

Hilariously enough, it wasn't just any AU that was affected, oh no. This was all going down in the original Undertale, more specifically, the Alpha Timeline.  The icing on the cake was that Error was the only person in the Multiverse that knew where the wayward Chara had gone, not that anybody other than Blueberry and the Bad Guy Gang knew this.

Obviously, Error would tell anyone who asked where Chara was, but the only people who knew to ask him didn't particularly care, so he wasn't going to say anything.   The kiddo deserved a break from the hard work they did, and Error was more than happy to cover for them if need be.  Besides, this was some soap opera level drama going on, and he did not want to miss it.

* When you fell down in the latest reset, you were confused by the lack of presence from the spectre that usually followed you around.
