It was late into the night when Dream von Licht finished the card, calligraphy's time consuming, after all, and for him, it had to be perfect. Just as Dream signed the card, there was a knock at his office door.
"Are you still in there, Boss?" Ink called.
"Yes I am, Ink." Dream replied, getting up to open the door for his right hand man. "How may I help you?"
"It's pretty late Boss, aren't you almost done?"
Dream smiled. Ink's concern always made him feel warm and fuzzy inside.
"Yes, I just finished. Why don't you come inside for a moment?" He offered, opening the office door a bit wider and gesturing for Ink to enter.
The two talked about various plans for capturing Nightmare and his friends for a while. When they finally got up to go off to bed, Dream handed Ink the card just before they parted ways.
Ink didn't open the card until he had made it to his room. It looked rather fancy, and the writing was very intricate. The message was simple, but the thought alone made his nonexistent soul beat just that bit faster.
"Take a break, you have earned it. Happy Holidays, Ink. Sincerely, Dream"
