"Let's start off with a simple question. What is your name?" The man asked the quite handsome, younger man in front of him.
The younger man huffed in annoyance, shifting in his seat as far as his handcuff restraint let him.
"I'm not a dumbass," He answered with disgust. "Don't ask questions we both already know the answer to."
There was a pause in the man's speech. Then, he continued to interrogate the younger man.
"Alright, Luke, how did you get in here? Would you mind telling us?" The man asked.
"No, I don't," The younger man replied. He seemed to be recollecting his memory for a moment, and then he let out a sigh before starting.
"It all started off when I was at a coffee shop. I saw a young lady, and she was alone. I started to watch her for a while.
It was then late at night, and she started to gather her things. I noticed she didn't have car keys with her, so I asked her, "Miss, would you like a ride home? I noticed you were here alone, and only thought it would be polite to ask."
There was a look of hesitation on her face for a moment, and then she replied with a iffy smile, "Yes, that would be nice, thank you."
As I started to walk with her down the alleyway to my car, I asked her a question once again. I said, "You know, my friend is having a party tomorrow night, and he told me to invite a lot of people. If you would like to go, you can just give me your number."
She stared at me, and a look of hesitation ran across her face once again. Then, she
replied with, "Oh, I would love to go."
She then scribbled her number on an old receipt of hers, and then handed it to me.
I nodded as a form of a thank-you, and then I looked up at her, studying her. Then I said, "You know what's funny? You don't know me, but I already know a whole lot about you."
I stepped closer to her, and she was scared. I could almost feel her heart beating against my own chest. I continued and said, "If I were somebody else, you would be dead right now." She let out a shriek, and I covered her mouth.
I don't know how it happened, but next thing I knew we were at the park, and a knife was in my right hand, her blood in the other." The younger man shrugged.
There was a long, ominous silence. Then, the older man spoke up, asking, "How did you feel, looking at her dead body afterwards?"
The younger man smiled, almost pleased at the image in his head. He then replied, taking his time in his answer to create emphasis, "Sexually aroused."
"Thank you for your time, Luke." The man replied, and that was all we heard before the video stopped.
"How did that make you feel, guys?" Mrs. Troy asked the class.
We all stayed silent, just exchanging glances at one another.
"I know," She replied, looking down at the floor for a moment, "You know, after this video was filmed, two years later, this man escaped from this hospital. A month after he escaped, the psychiatric hospital he resided in before was burnt down by him. He then shot himself in his own house, leaving a note in his bedroom stating, "I always wanted control." And he really did have control. In his own death, in controlling his life after escaping. And in everything he did, he felt no ounce of guilt, ever. And in reality, what we are all denying ourselves of, is this statement right here. All monsters are human."
She then dismissed class, and we all got up slowly, all sinking in what we heard. You could see the worry in everyone's eyes, but Mrs. Troy's words really stuck to me, especially the last few words. And even thought I hadn't seen or heard much in my whole period of living, maybe it was true.
