Chapter 6

It was the night of the Yule ball. I sat in my dorm waiting for Hermione to finish getting dressed. "Come in Lilly it'll be fun" she begs. " I don't know Hermione seeing him dancing with her no thank you" I huff and sit back. "No your getting dressed and coming with me" she stands me up and does my hair and makeup for me. I put on the dress and look in the mirror. "See you look beautiful" she puts her chin on my shoulder and we both smile at our reflections. "You were right let's go" I say excitedly and we start walking to the main hall. We go finally get to the last staircase and I hear the music and everybody. I turn the corner and me and Hermione start walking down the stairs. Harry and Ron stare at us and I look over to the door way. Draco is standing there with his friends talking when he looks at me. He stops talking and slowly starts smiling. I smile back at him. We walk up to Harry and Ron. "Wow you guys look great" Ron says. "Thanks" I did a small curtsy. We laugh. "So where are your dates" I ask looking around. "Oh uh yea they had to like go over there" they stutter awkwardly. "Guys Im kidding I came here without a date to we're going as a friend group" I reassure them. "Besides Hermione she has a date" Ron says. "Oh hush he's nice I gotta go guys I'll see you after" she rushes off to wherever leaving us three standing there silently. "Well would you guys wanna go dance" I ask and lead the way. "Come on if I had to come here then you guys have to at least dance" I walk towards the dance floor and we all start dancing. I laugh because the boys are not the best dancers but they tried. I felt someone walk up behind me and I turn around and see Draco and Pansy. She gives me a snarky look but his eyes were genuine. "Hey Lilly Potter Weasley" the guys fake smile at each other. "Would you care to dance" he asks me. Pansy didn't look happy about it. "Sure" I said and grabbed his hand. She stood there for a second until she huffed and walked away. We dance for a few minutes until he looks at me. "Do you wanna get out of here it's kind of loud and there's a lot of people" he whispers in my ear. "Sure" I reply and he grabs my hand. We walk out of the room making sure no one saw us. Then we snuck around the corner. "Come on" he laughs. We run through the corridors and the gardens and stop at our spot. We lay down and stare up at the stars. "Lilly why do you like me" he asks. He sounded genuinely curious. "Oh I don't know your personality" I say not sure what to say. "What about me" I ask him. We look over at each other. "Because your beautiful" he says. His eyes bright from the moonlight. Glistening stars reflected off of them. He brushes the hair from my face and holds my cheek. We lay there like that for a while and then we decide to go back inside. We're walking hand in hand when Snape catches us. "Draco can I speak with you.....alone" he says in his slow monotonous voice. "Thank you for a wonderful night Draco" I say walking away. I hear Snape talking and I stop when I hear my name. "You cannot be seen with that girl" he says "why not" Draco questions him. "She will ruin everything she's friends with those three" he snarls. "Give me time" Draco says and then I hear footsteps. I start running towards my dorm when I see Hermione sitting and studying. " Why were you running" she asks me " I heard Snape and Draco talking about me and I'm not sure what it means" I say out of breath. "What we're they saying" she asks getting curious. "That he's gotta stay away from me and I'll ruin everything" I sit down. "That's weird I wonder if it's about the tournament" she says. "I don't think so but it's a possibility" I get ready for bed and Hermione falls asleep. I lay awake thinking about what that means. The tournament starts tomorrow.
