The Impossible

A random woman comes to Grey-Sloan. She finds a nurse and asks to page Doctor Grey, the nurse pages Grey. Grey comes, and she asks ''Why did you paged me here?'' the nurse replies ''It's your niece doctor'' Grey looked confused and replies in a sarcastic tone ''I don't really remember having a niece that's big enough to ask a nurse to page me'' the nurse replies ''then who is that?''. Grey approaches the woman to ask a question ''Excuse me, are you the one who asked the nurse to page me?'' the woman stands up and replies ''Yes. And you must be Doctor Meredith Grey, or should I say auntie Mer'' Meredith stared at her with a confused face, the woman laughed and introduced herself ''I'm sorry to confuse you, my name is Elizabeth, Elizabeth Yang, Cristina Yang's adopted daughter''  Meredith is still shock in silence and didn't knew what to say. After Meredith being shock she replies to what Elizabeth said to her ''Wait that can't be right, *laughs* Cristina would've told me if she was gonna adopt or take responsibility of a child I mean no offense but she doesn't even want a child'' Elizabeth replies ''I understand, she explained everything to me. And she actually told me that she want her herself to explain this situation to you'' Meredith still doesn't believe Elizabeth, and Elizabeth feels that her aunt Meredith doesn't believe her, so she told a fact only Meredith knows, Elizabeth asks Meredith to lean forward so she can whisper in Meredith's ear, She whispers ''You were the one on my mom's emergency contacts when she got pregnant when she was an intern. Cause you're her person'' Meredith is still so shocked about the situation so she shouted at the first intern she saw ''Hey! Helm'' Helm comes to Meredith and asks ''What do you need Doctor Grey?'' Meredith Replies ''Will you please show Elizabeth where my office is?'' Helm replies ''Sure I will'' Meredith replies ''Thanks. Oh and hey Elizabeth, can you please stay there for a while? I just have to consult a patient, then we'll talk about this" Elizabeth replies "Sure that'll be fine" Elizabeth follows Helm to go to Meredith's office. After Meredith lied to Elizabeth about consulting a patient she immediately finds Alex to tell him, and when Meredith found Alex she shouted ''Alex!'' Alex replies ''What? I'm scrubbing in with Robbins'' Meredith sighs and says ''I- look it's kinda important but, could you just page me after you're surgery?'' Alex shockingly replies ''What is it did something happened to jo or to the kids?'' Meredith replies ''No they're fine, but-'' Arizona interrupted what Meredith was about to say, cause she has to tell Alex that their patient is crashing ''Alex what's taking you so long our patient is crashing'' Alex replies ''Ok I'll be right there. *sighs* Look Mer just tell me what is it'' Meredith replies ''No I'll tell you later. Now go!''. Meredith walks out of the scrubbing area and went to find Doctor Webber, and when she found Doctor Webber she tells him about Elizabeth. ''Richard!'' Meredith shouted, Webber turns around and replies ''Meredith what is it? *laughs*'', Meredith replies ''Something crazy happened earlier'' Richard replies ''What, did anyone got hurt?'' Meredith replies ''No, it's not bad. It's more strange, someone claimed that their Cristina's adopted daughter and I haven't called Cristina yet, but she told me something only me and Cristina knows'' Richard laughs and replies ''Wait are you talking about Elizabeth? I see you've met her'' Meredith is so shock that Richard knew Elizabeth first, so she asks him a question ''Wait how do you know Elizabeth?'' Richard replies ''She applied here for an internship and she got accepted. And I also knew about the whole daughter thing. Cristina told me to not tell you cause she wanted to make sure that Elizabeth got accepted first" Meredith replies ''Well did she said anything else? And are you sure Cristina was the one you're talking to?'' Richard replies ''Yes we even did the facetime thing. And she didn't really told me a bunch of stuff about Elizabeth she just told me to ''trust the process'' *rolls eyes*'' Meredith replies ''Ok, thanks I'll go talk to Elizabeth''. Meredith goes to her office to talk to Elizabeth to understand this whole thing. Meredith walks into her office and finds Elizabeth on her phone, Elizabeth notices Meredith walking towards her, so she told Meredith about Cristina's call ''Hey! uhmm... mom was about to call, but she just got pulled into an emergency surgery, and she might take a while" Meredith replies ''Okay'' and smiles. Meredith sits besides Elizabeth, Elizabeth asks Meredith a question ''Hey, if you have any surgeries or consults you could do it, cause mom's probably gonna take couples of hours'' Meredith replies ''I have them covered'' Elizabeth replies ''Ohh okay, and uhmm... is it ok if I call you aunt Mer, or do you want me to call you Meredith?, or doctor Grey?'' Meredith laughs and says ''Aunt Mer is fine, don't worry about it'' Elizabeth smiles and replies ''Okay, thank you, and can I ask you just one more thing?'' Meredith replies ''Sure what is it?'' Elizabeth asks Meredith ''What are your pronouns? *laughs*" Meredith replies ''It's she/her, what about yours?'' Elizabeth replies ''Mine is she/her too. Hey aunt Mer, do you maybe want to grab some lunch while we wait?'' Meredith replies ''Sure I would love too''. A couple of  hours, they went back to Meredith's office. Meredith pages Alex to her office to see if he was done with the surgery. Elizabeth tells Meredith that Cristina is almost done with the surgery, Alex comes to Meredith's office, Alex asks Meredith a question ''So what's so important?, are the kids fine?, is jo fine?, are you fine?'' Elizabeth interrupted Meredith and says, ''Oh my god!, is that Alex? as in Alex Karev?!'' Elizabeth shouted, Meredith replies ''Yes that is Alex'' Alex is so confused, he comes up to Meredith and whispers ''Did you paged me cause I have huge fan?'' Meredith looks at Alex and whispers ''No that's Cristina's daughter''. Alex is in complete shock, Elizabeth introduced herself and says ''I am sorry to confuse you, its's kind of a long story, But mom *mumbles* Cristina is gonna call any second now, and she'll tell you the whole story'' Alex smiles and whispers to Meredith ''Should I call psych?'' Meredith replies '''No, what she told us is true, she has proof. Richard also told me that she's gonna be working here as an intern, and that Cristina also facetimed Richard to not tell us'' Alex replies ''Wait Richard knew first and we didn't?!'' Meredith replies ''I know right, I couldn't believe that she could do that, specially to us'' Alex replies ''Well, let's just wait for her to call so she could explain herself Meredith replies ''Yeah, she better have a good explanation for this one''. 30 minutes later, Elizabeth's phone rings and it was Cristina, Elizabeth answers the phone and gives it to Meredith and Alex, Elizabeth tells them that she'll be right back, to give them some privacy, and then she left the room. Meredith shouts at Cristina ''Is it true!'' Alex shouts at Cristina ''You better explain yourself!" Cristina replies to them ''You guys calm down. I know what I did, and I'm sorry for not telling you'' Meredith replies ''Well at least you picked a good one'' Cristina smiles and replies ''I sure did'' Alex replies ''Okay enough with that, I need answers!'' Cristina laughs and says ''Okay evil spawn geez. So there was a competition where medical students are chosen to have free internship, and Elizabeth was one of them and we were one of the hospitals. The hospitals didn't get to judge, so the medical board was the judge. I saw Elizabeth and she was the fastest and the most focused, hell- she even multi-tasked and did the right things. But the medical board didn't chose her, I asked them why not her, but they told me it was confidential and that it was fair and square. I didn't believe them until I found out 3/5 of the winners are their relatives'' Meredith replies ''Wait that isn't possible right?'' Cristina replies ''Yeah, it isn't but here in switzerland it is. So back to the story, I called Elizabeth and interviewed her, then I decided to hire her. But when the medical board knew they didn't accepted it, they said Elizabeth couldn't work here'' Alex replies ''So you sent her here'' Cristina replies sarcastically ''Yeah kinda like that. Anyways she didn't have any parents to guide and support her, and she isn't a baby that needs to get her diapers changed, plus she's kinda like me but much more nicer. But wait until she starts working cause that woman is a shark. And we talked and talked and new each other better so yeah, I adopted her'' Meredith and Alex laughs, Meredith replies ''You seriously don't adopt your friend''  Cristina replies ''No I didn't, look, I see her as my daughter believe it or not, and I will do anything to protect her. That's also why I wanted her to work there cause I know that you'll keep an eye on her'' Alex replies ''Well in that case, we will keep an eye on her'' Meredith also replies ''We'll take good care of her. And are you gonna visit here anytime soon?'' Cristina replies ''Thank you guys I totally appreciate it. And speaking of visiting, yes I might, maybe next month'' Meredith replies ''Are you serious?!, that's great'' Alex also replies ''We miss you so much!'' Cristina replies ''If it makes you feel anymore better I miss you guys so much too. *pager beeps* Wait guys There's a problem with my patient. Please guide Elizabeth tomorrow ,It's her first day and even though I know she's the best, she still needs guidance. But don't give her any favours okay?'' Meredith replies ''We will keep an eye for Elizabeth'' Alex continues Meredith's sentence ''And we won't give her any special treatments!'' Cristina smiles and replies ''You guys are the best, okay got to go, bye!'' Cristina waves goodbye as she hangs up the phone before Meredith and Alex got to say goodbye. Elizabeth sees that their done talking to Cristina in Meredith's glass window, so she goes into Meredith's office to see how the talk went. Elizabeth comes inside and says ''So how did it go?'' Meredith replies ''It went well, Cristina told us everything and we understand noe. Even though I'm still in shock'' Meredith laughs, while Alex gave the phone to Elizabeth. While they're leaving the room Alex tells Elizabeth ''Good luck tomorrow'' Elizabeth replies ''Thanks! Mom said it's gonna be difficult, but I'm hoping that it won't be'' Meredith replies ''The first day isn't that hard. Be prepared for the upcoming days after that''. Elizabeth went to her hotel room to prepare for her first day tomorrow at Grey-Sloan.
