I sat still in front of the mirror as Nat did my makeup. Pepper, Wanda, and Maria were all converged in my room and getting ready for the party. I had an unopened snap from Peter that I was itching to open, but Nat had told me to stay still. We had been snapping back and forth while Pepper had done my hair but now that Nat was doing makeup I had to stay still.

"So, how are you and Peter going?" Maria asked me.

I blushed darker than a beetroot.

"Good," I mumbled as Nat continued her work.

Maria nodded and let me out of talking about it, either because she was being nice to me or because if I spoke more Nat would kill the both of us.

Once my makeup was done I got into a beautiful, floor-length black dress. It had a slit up the side. Nat and Wanda had helped me pick it out.

When I walked out of my wardrobe, the girls complimented my outfit. They got changed too, and we all made our way down to the party. 

Guests mingled about and music played. I searched the lobby for Peter, but he didn't seem to be there yet.

I'm just about to get out of the car now

I watched the doors of the party until they opened and my boyfriend stepped through. He was wearing a suit and looked absolutely dashing. And terrified.

I walked over to him and he smiled in relief when he saw me.

"Hey, bubs," I said, pecking him on the lips.

"Hey, n/n," he sighed, pulling me into his arms.

I hugged him back and rubbed my hands on his shoulders comfortingly.

"It's going to be okay," I said. "It's just a party."

Peter snorted and shook his head.

"This is the first party we've been to together," he said.

I smiled at him.

"And it won't be the last."
