At six o'clock that evening, Rose was exhausted. She sat at the dinner table as she waited for Sam to arrive home. "What time does he usually arrive back?" "Anytime from now until ten past six depending on the traffic." The front door then opened. "I'm back everyone." He suddenly walked into the kitchen and saw Rose sitting at the table while looking exhausted.

"How was the training Rose?" "Hard," she wearily said. "You'll get there. Let the guys build your strength and then you and me will have a challenge." "I don't want to hurt you." "I'll be fine. I'm a professional. On another subject, I'd like to ask you something." "What is it?" "Have you thought about your answer?" She nodded. "I'd like to be your daughter please." "Then it's settled. I'll get an adoption form and sign it." "Don't you need a wife?" "Single people can adopt. Plus, I can afford to adopt you alone. Would you like a mum?" "You don't have to find someone if you don't want to."

He sighed heavily. "I've been looking for someone for a long time. I just don't have the time to find her." "Okay." "Oh. Before I forget, you'll be meeting my parents on Thursday." "Your parents?" "Yes. I warned them that you were staying here." "What if they don't like me?" "They will. Now let's eat."

After half an hour, Rose was leaning to the left as she was exhausted from the training. "Rose, I think you should go to bed." "I'll be fine." "I'm not taking no for an answer. Please go now." She nodded and slowly stood up and made her way to the stairs. She grabbed the rail and paused. Joseph saw her and held his hand on her waist. "I've got you." "I've got it." "You're exhausted. Why don't I carry you?" "I've got it." She was too exhausted to lift her leg to put it on the first step of the stairs, so he put one arm under her legs and the other one behind her back and lifted her into his arms.

"I've got you Rose. You're just exhausted." She put her arms around his neck and closed her eyes as she rested her head against his shoulder. "That's it Rose. Sam just wants you to rest. We have another long day ahead of us in the morning." She nodded as she let him walk upstairs and into the room she was staying in. He gently placed her onto the bed and asked, "is there anything you need before I leave?" "Please tell Sam thank you." "I will. Try and get a good nights rest. You need it." She collected her pyjamas and changed into them before getting under the bed covers.

A couple of hours later, Rose woke up to hear two voices outside of her door. "I've signed the adoption form. I'll surprise her in the morning." "Sir..." "What is it?" "Are you sure about this? You just took her under your wing. She could betray you. She could be using you for your money." "Well, she's not. I know she's not." "You adopted a thief." "If that's how you feel, you're fired." "But sir-" "No buts. She's my daughter now. So, pack your things and never return."

Rose didn't hear any more talking, but she heard the door open and nothing was said. She didn't want Sam to know what she heard.
