The welcome party, judging by the number of people present, was far from over and there was no end in sight when Riven and Sierra returned from the forest. When the specialist asked them what they were going to do for the rest of the evening, their answer was simply, nothing. The interest, in this event, had been already before their small visit in the forest not present, besides, had it now, something else intends.
Thereby, what Sierra had experienced in the forest, it might concern only the beginning. To assume that there was only one person who had been burned would be extremely naive. There has never been just one, of any kind. At the moment it might be the case, but it would not remain so for long. Sooner or later, the rest would come out of hiding.
"Thank you," Sierra began to smile, causing Riven to turn to her and a questioning expression to form on his face, "For coming with me.... Into the woods. It's not a given when a body has been found, or in the dark. Preferably at the same time. Or you were the one who found them."
"It's hard to let you go alone," Riven countered, causing Sierra to give him a sober look, which stated that of course that was the case, "Besides, now I know Nox is extremely appropriate."
"Great, now I'll never get rid of the name," which was to be assumed, Sierra knew, because once you had a nickname, you would keep it forever, "See you tomorrow."
Sleeping, however, Sierra did not go, but to the library, as she also informed Riven, because, the subject would not let her go.
The Burned. Not a former threat, as the teachers told. It was one that had existed at all times.

The new fairies were about ready to present their birth elements one by one in the stone circle when Sierra trudged across the dew-damp meadow toward the group. She had not wanted to miss her first lessons of the second semester, as it was to be expected not to catch certain learning that was readily mentioned as an aside, and that merely, for the bullshit she had already been through last year.
The Dowling didn't want to say a single syllable about Sierra being 'late', but the expression on her face was enough to know how the principal felt about her late arrival. A waste of time, that's all Sierra could say, but she didn't say it because it wasn't worth it. Anyway, she would lose out if she messed with the Dowling over it.
The redhead, who had talked to Sky at the party and was observed by Stella, had problems. Nothing happened with her. Frustrated, she wanted to know from Dowling if the next one couldn't just move on. The main thing was that it was the only problem that the redhead had to deal with. The talk was now about Stella, who could get quite nasty if she didn't like something. A jealous Stella would be the last thing the new girl wanted.
One step away from the large stone boulder in the center of the circle, Sierra placed her palms upside down on the rough edge and gently ran her fingers over the wall of the stone. The metal bowl standing on it, wherein her magic would show, was empty. A wok. A magic wok.
It was not long before, in the middle of the morning, night fell over their heads; the brilliant sun went out and was replaced by a white glowing crescent in the sky. In the cauldron that Sierra once affectionately christened Wok, a dark gray cloud of mist rose up that you would think was creeping up the metal wall and slowly over the stone.
"Darkness," the Dowling said softly as if hoping to see something else, "The utter darkness, the absence of light and all that goes with it."
Last year it had been exactly the same result, hence the question, what was the point of this action? Had the Dowling actually believed, from then until now, something had changed, would change, or, that Sierra's powers fluctuated between two elements? Or had the director simply had no idea which element it was? Moreover, her gift was not extraordinarily rare. There might be more fairies with the abilities of Earth, Fire, Water or Air, not to mention Mental, but there were plenty whose powers were Illusion, Night or Moon.
Stella, who belonged to the light fairies, was also no fuss, although her ability was not one of the most common. A small special treatment got this nevertheless, since her mother, the queen of Solaria was, which made the blond a 'real' princess and the future queen.
It was perfectly equal, which fairy, to which element belonged, because with all, something could be done wrong.
