The evening was still young, so Sierra was not yet eager to go to her room, which she shared with people she didn't really feel like seeing anyway. The disadvantage, the big disadvantage at a boarding school. No room of one's own and one could not choose one's roommates, since one was simply thrown together.
If Stella's first impulse hadn't been to immediately run to Sky to complain to him about her mother, Sierra would certainly have spent the rest of the day with the light fairy. Experiencing the two of them together, however, was like a roller coaster ride every time, something she didn't want to do to herself. One moment everything was fine, the next second though, it was unbearable.
It was quiet, unusually quiet, for this time of day in the castle, although one would have to assume that most people were still awake and enjoying the rest of the day outside, despite the unpleasant events.
In the cafeteria, usually teeming with people, it was now, not a single soul to be found.
After Sierra had fetched three books from the library and then settled down in the deserted dining room, the blonde noticed after a while that it was also quiet. Downright quiet. Nothing and nobody was to be heard. Neither birds or insects outside, nor classmates in here. Nothing at all. Especially because Alfea was always full of people, except during the vacations, this seemed almost eerie. A castle, in which hundreds of people lived, lay quietly there? Hardly imaginable. Like in a horror movie or 'The Chamber of Secrets', where students are not allowed to be alone or without an important reason.
"Is this going to be our date now?" a voice came up, causing Sierra to flinch and a second later watch Riven as the specialist, sat down across from her, "What's going on? Since when did you become the jumpy kind?"
"The mood right now should make anyone jumpy, especially when someone sneaks up behind them," Sierra countered, taking a deep breath, closing her book and stretching her arms across the table, "How many times? The two of us, it's not going to work out, especially not if you've been hooking up with someone else for a long time."
"One thing I wouldn't have to if someone would stop with this 'relationships aren't my thing' kind of thing," Sierra's refusal was retorted by Riven, "What are you afraid of? Because there's no reason to be."
"It never ends well," and it always does, one way or another, so Sierra didn't waste a thought on it either, "It's not fear, as you call it. It's what you know you don't have to be afraid of."
What people fear most is what they don't see, so basically there's nothing to fear but fear itself.
