They'll Put Us In The Movies

- the Introduction-  

I've never understood why things end. Why does the sun set on an amazing day? Why does a beautiful poem have an ending? Why does your favorite movie have to conclude? And why did all those summers have to be over? All those summers with Daphne and her family have an ending. And this is the being of yet other summer with Daphne.

**********Flashback**********

"Mommy when is Daphne gonna be here?" The 6 year old version of Toby said.  

"Hun, Daphne,Harry,and their mom will be here any minute!" Toby's mom,Jenna yelled from the kitchen.  

Toby has been sitting on the window seat since 7:30 that morning waiting for his best friend,Daphne, to arrive at there little,teal house in Florida. Daphne has been coming to his house since she was born. I guess it makes since considering Toby's mom,Jenna, and Daphne's mom, Joyce, had been friends for years. Toby loved summers at his house. It was almost as if his home wasn't his home during the summer. It was more like a vacation house for the two families.  

All of the sudden, a sleek,black mini van pulls onto the drive-way covered in white sand.  

"Daphne!!!!!" Toby automatically popped out of his seat and dashed for the door where he would meet Daphne for one of there "I finally get to see you" hugs. Jenna met Joyce at the back of the van to help with the bags. Harry,being the teenager he is, took his bags and went straight to the room he always stayed in so he could call up his buddies that lived near by.  

"Daphne! I have so many plans for us!" Toby squealed in delight over his friend.  

"Toby,your not going to believe the early birthday present I got from my grandparents!" Daphne pulls out a small,red video camera from her bag. Along with the camera,she pulled out a small wood board that said "Take 1" and some papers that were titled "Script".  

"Are we gonna make movies?" Toby raised his eyebrows in a cute, little boy type way. 

"Yes! I tried it out in the way here. I videoed the road,gas stations,and a strange man laying on the side of the road holding a cat!" Daphne giggled remembering the odd event. "My only problem is,sometimes I run out of stuff to say in my movies."  

"Follow me! I think I have an idea" exclaimed Toby.

Daphne followed Toby up to his bed room. Toby pulled out an old shoe box holding ruffled papers,a pencil or two,and a Cat in the Hat book.  

"These are my poems I wrote. I know I'm little, but Mommy taught me how to write a few words and she helped me rhyme. Look at them! It started with my Cat book." 

"Toby you're the smartest boy alive. We can use your poems in my movies!" Daphne hugged Toby tightly and smiled.  

"Daphne. Promise me we will always be best friends."  

"I promise,Toby" 

Daphne and Toby locked pinkies and then high fived to seal the deal.

I couldn't believe it has been 11 years since we made that promise. And it's finally the day I wait for all year. The first day of summer. The day Daphne will arrive at my home for the summer. And this summer is going to be perfect. It has to be perfect. There may not be a next summer because Daphne might be gone to college. And so will I. I have the entire summer planned out. Well,as much as I can plan anyways.

Before I know it, a white mustang convertible pulls onto the same sandy drive-way as 11 years ago. I sprint to the door just like I did when I was 6 years old. Then I see a beautiful girl come running up to my door step. She's tall but still not as tall as me. And her hair is dark brown with a hint of a purple streak showing down the side. She has always been a little bit of a rebel. We hug just as we always have in the same spot. This time it is a little different. I feel...strange. I don't know what you call what I'm feeling but I think I like it in a way.

"I've missed you so much,Toby" Daphne says to me. 

"It has been a LONG school year waiting to see you," Toby begins to say as Joyce walks in," and your beautiful mother!"  

They all laugh and give out there rounds of hugs and "You've gotten so tall!" speeches. And then,as usual, they both run straight to the screen room to get down to business.  

Even after 11 years, they both still love the movies. Everything about films intrigues them. Even as young children, Toby and Daphne would walk to the near-by theater and watch films for hours during the day. This summer, they have to make the best summer home movie they have made ever. 

"So Toby, you know this may be the last year for a long time that I am able to come to be with ya'll for summer." Daphne told Toby. 

"I've been thinking a lot about that. That is why this year we have to make the most of the summer and make the best home movie yet. We have to have as much fun as possible. And I have the perfect place to start!" Toby said with a smile.

And this is how the best and the worst summer of their young lives began.

So this is my 2nd story I'm publishing on Wattpad. I'm VERY excited about this story. I started a story call "I Hate The Color Purple" but I had to put it on hold because of my busy schedule. Well I'm back and better than ever :) and I have a million amazing ideas for this story that I can't wait to share with you! So sit back,and enjoy the show. P.s. I know this is a pretty short chapter but it is kinda an introduction chapter. Next one will be longer. and I promise if you don't LOVE the beginning it will get better. The beginning was not my favorite part to write but I really needed a good start. I promise this is also not a predictable story. Many twists and turns await my readers!
