Emmaline's POV
I watched as another girl made him laugh. My heart thumped what felt like out of my chest as she made him smile. Oh, how I had wished that was me behind the smiles and the laughs.
What pains me the most is that it could have been me. There could have been an us. But we both didn't try hard enough. We did everything together for the most part; we were a dynamic duo and the best of friends. There was something between us, no doubt, but neither of us ever acted on our feelings.
Now I am here watching him be with someone else as my thoughts run wild, thinking about what could have been and how it would be different today if I had just told him how I felt when I had the chance.
