•In The Night•
Word count 1590Adelina was woken up by the sound of someone breaking into her room. She quickly turned on her lamp as she looked over at Stellas bed. Stella had apparently snuck out without Adelina knowing. Adelina took a deep breath as she assumed Stella was the one sneaking into her room. "Shit!" A male voice yelled as the sound of something breaking erupted through the room. Adelina felt her whole body shake in fear as her eyes scanned the room. She noticed a dark figure standing by her window. She immediately grabbed her lamp and held it in front of her body. The figure turned around as a very familiar laugh erupted through the room. "You can shoot fire out of your fucking hands and you decided to grab a lamp as a weapon!" Riven yelled in a taunting tone. Adelina sighed in relief as she set her lamp down. She sat back down on her bed as the fear slowly faded away.
"Wait! Why are you in my room?" Adelina asked Riven in a sharp tone. Adelina took in his appearance. He was wearing back pants with a black sweatshirt. His hair was a mess and when Adelinas eyes landed on his face she held back the urge to gasp. He had deep cuts across his face. He was holding his side as if he were in pain. "Did you get run over?" Adelina asked him frantically as she quickly ran over to him. "Nice pajamas." Riven teases her as he avoids her question. Riven wraps his arm around Adelina as he puts some of his weight on her. He grunts in pain as she leads him to her bed. She gently sets him down causing him to wince in pain. He kept a tight grip on his side as Adelina couldn't possibly imagine what happened. "Are you going to answer any of my questions?" Adelina asked Riven sharply.
"I was kinda hoping you would have a poster of me on your wall." Riven mutters sarcastically as he looks around her room. Adelina smacks his arm causing him to wince in extreme pain. "Sorry! Maybe if you told me what happened I could help your pain!" Adelina yells in anger. Rivens eyes locked with Adelinas causing him to sigh. Her face was covered with anger and worry. "Stella came over to my room to be with Sky I guess and so naturally I left because I want to be as far away from her as possible....so I had a few drinks...... I may or may not have stumbled over the barrier.......... it's all kind of a blur.... all I know is I was attacked by something....... it wasn't a burned one........ but it was definitely something." Riven explains to Adelina as she listens intently. "Why would you go past the barrier? You could have been killed! We have no clue what injured you! You could be poisoned! Then you would die and then who would I argue you with during training!" Adelina ranted leaving her breathless.
Riven just stared at her in amazement as she ranted on and on. He finally grabbed her hand. "I'm fine..... yes I'm stupid for walking outside the barrier..... but I am fine...." Riven reassures her as he gently rubs his fingers against her knuckles. She sighed as her eyes locked with his. "Let me take a look at your injuries and maybe we can determine what attacked you." Adelina mutters as she gestures to his chest. "Woah! Are you sure this isn't just an excuse to see me without my shirt on?" Riven asked her flirtatiously. Adelina rolled her eyes as Riven took off his shirt and jacket. Adelinas eyes immediately landed on his abs and she quickly averted her attention. Her eyes widened as they landed on a huge gaping wound across his chest. "What the hell Riven?" Adelina mumbled as she kneeled in front of him.
She gently placed one finger on the wound but Riven immediately smacked her hand away. "Were you attacked by a bear?" Adelina asked him in a playful tone as she started rummaging through her drawers. "It was all a blur." Riven tells her truthfully. Riven watches as Adelina grabs a bag of random tools and brings them back to the bed. "I think I can stitch you up." Adelina tells him softly. "Is that a joke? Me...trust you with my life? I would rather die." Riven huffs in disbelief. "Well then you could just go to the headmistress and tell her why you have that wound and I'm sure someone with more skill can fix you." Adelina tells him sharply. "Are you sure you can do this?" Riven asks her in an uneasy tone. Adelina looked down at his wound as she nodded her head. Adelina had absolutely no clue if she could actually do this but Riven didn't need to know that. Riven smiled as Adelina knelt down and started getting her tools ready. He thought she looked cute in her little cozy pajamas. He wouldn't tell her of course but he could still admire how cute she was.
"Oww!" Riven screamed causing Adelina to quickly cover his mouth. "Shut up..... if someone finds a boy in my room.... I will be in big trouble." Adelina whispers sharply. He smacks her hand away as he looks down at the tool she inserted in his injury. "You're gonna be in big trouble if you stab me with something again." Riven tells her angrily. Adelina glares at him before looking back down at his wound. Riven grunted in pain as she started stitching his wound. "Have you done this before?" Riven asked her as he winced in pain. "I've sewn clothes before... I deal with a lot of burn injuries.......how hard could this be." Adelina replies nervously. "It's my skin not a piece of clothing!" Riven screamed in disbelief. Riven looked down at her as she seemed very focused. She looked scared but her hands were insanely steady. Riven admired how beautiful she looked. Riven needed something to distract him from the pain she was inflicting. "Do you have alcohol in here?" Riven asked her desperately. She looked up at him with a tool in her mouth.
"Like you need any more of that." Adelina replies sharply. Riven fights back the urge to scream as he can feel everything Adelina is doing. "Stop.... moving." Adelina tells him in a sharp tone. "I'm sorry I can literally feel you stabbing my flesh and I need something to distract me from the pain." Riven replies nervously. "Smoke a cigarette." Adelina whispers softly. "I don't have any on me... I'm pretty sure the animal that attacked me ate them." Riven replies sharply. "Well.... what can I do to distract you?" Adelina asks him as she focuses on stitching him up. "Sex." Riven says sarcastically. Adelina digs the tool deeper into his wound causing him to scream. "I was kidding!" Riven reassures her. Riven looks around the room trying to find something to distract him. "Do you like to read?" Adelina asked him curiously. "Do I look like someone who reads?" Riven asks her sharply.
"Do you even know how to read?" Adelina mumbles causing her to snort at her own joke. "Did you just laugh.... at your own joke?" Riven teases her as a smile forms on his face. "I'm kinda freaking out right now hoping that I don't kill you so I'm sorry that I laughed at my own joke to cope with the trauma that this will inflict on me." Adelina tells him frantically. Riven sighed as he looked around the room again looking for a distraction. His eyes landed on Adelina. "Can I do your hair?" Riven asked her softly. Adelina looked up at him to make sure he was serious. "No." She replied sharply. "Oh come on... you're literally stabbing the shit out of me... the least you can do is let me play with your hair." Riven begs her. "If you play with my hair it could affect what I am doing." Adelina warns him. "It will be fine." Riven tells her as he grabs her hair.
Riven had imagined what her hair would feel like but it could never compare to the actual feeling. It was soft as he ran his fingers through it. Adelina felt calmer as the boy played with her hair. Riven had no clue how to do girls hair so he tried to do a braid but ended up just tangling her hair up. Every so often he would feel intense pain causing him to abruptly stop and then continue on. "Oww!" Adelina yelled as he pulled her hair a little too hard. "Sorry." Riven mumbles nervously as he released her hair. He then went back to doing her hair making sure he didn't hurt her again. "I finished." Adelina tells Riven as she pulls the tools away from his body. He gently let go of her hair as he looked down at the wound on his body. It was no longer bleeding and it had stitches through it. "Thank you Adi." Riven tells her softly as he pulls her in for a hug. Adelina wasn't ready for the hug but quickly hugged him back. She loved the feeling of his arms around her.
