online school is an actual pain. sitting on a chair by your desk for hours while staring at a computer. yeah, that's a good way to spend five days a week. but maybe for sunghoon and jake it wouldn't be so bad.
Jake crossed his arms and looked at Sunghoon who was busy doing something in the kitchen. Gaeul laid comfortably beside him, clearly enjoyed the constant pets that the Australian gave to fall asleep. The smell of chocolate hit his nose, the sight of Sunghoon coming from the corner of his eye. He had two mugs in his hands and the smell of chocolate only strengthened as the younger got closer.
"Mmm smells good" Jake hummed and wrapped both hands around the mug that Sunghoon offered to him. As predicted, hot chocolate was inside with a few small marshmallows floating around. Jake watched as they slowly disappeared within the brown liquid, disintegrating. The older smiled before taking a sip, making a sound which Sunghoon was quick to look.
"Ouch! Too early, too early" He whispered to himself, scolding himself. Sunghoon only laughed and ruffled Jake's hair, the same hand trailing down to rest on his cheek. "Slow down Jakey" Sunghoon whispered, looking deeply into the older's brown eyes. There was a little grunt as Jake whined again, looking up at Sunghoon with a little pout. "You're too cute baby~"
"Are you laughing at me, I just burnt my tongue" Jake stated and his eyes narrowing at the male was at the brink of breaking out in laughter. Sunghoon just shook his head and looked away, allowing a little snort to escape. "Hey, that's mean!" The smaller exclaimed and placed the mug on the coffee table, pointing his index finger towards the younger. Sunghoon broke out in laughter, practically rolling around. Jake could have sworn he saw him wipe a tear away from the corner of his eye.
"I hope you burn your tongue too," He said under his breath and used the pillow beside him to create a barrier between them. Sunghoon straightens himself out before he reached over and took the pillow away, scooting closer to Jake. He grabbed onto Jake's mug and handed it back to him, a little nod telling him to grab it. Jake complied and laughed at himself as he looked back at the past five minutes, how he stupidly tried to drink the hot drink without blowing on it or waiting.
Sunghoon cleared his throat before he went close, taking a sip. He seemed fine so Jake copied, making a little noise when the sweet taste of chocolate hit his tongue. "Tehe it's good though," He said shyly. The younger nodded and continued to take bigger sips, his almost gone by the time Jake was taking his second sip. "How about we go out after this?" Sunghoon suggested, putting the mug's base on his lap.
Jake thought before nodding towards the male, using his other hand to hold the bottom of the mug. In less than five minutes, their hot chocolate was gone. They stood up and made their way into the kitchen, Jake taking the initiation to wash the dishes. There was a little disagreement on who would wash the mugs back Sunghoon decided to just stand off to the side and watch as Jake did the task. The older was happily hummed, smiling while he continued to scrub the inside of the mug. The moment making Sunghoon's heart joyful. He's never seen anybody look so happy while washing dishes before but of course, Jake was the first.
When Jake finished, he placed the two mugs to the side, looking off to the side and out the window. It was only drizzling so it excited him, it would be fun playing outside. He wiped down his hands before grabbing onto Sunghoon's, pulling him toward the front door. "You're very eager~" Sunghoon cooed and took in as Jake grabbed onto their coats, holding out Sunghoon's black one. They shrugged on their own before Sunghoon opened the door, the cold wind brushing them in the face.
When Sunghoon was done locking up the door, Jake wrapped his arms around Sunghoon's left arm. He tugged at the younger, pulling him towards the big puddle in front of his house. Jake was the first to jump in, making little motions with each foot. The water rippled with each movement, making Jake giggled. "The ripples make me look funny" Jake stated and pointed at his reflection which was distorted from the rippling.
Sunghoon laughed and ran towards him, jumping with as much on his feet as he could. The water splashing up as he continuously jumped up and down. Jake joined in, feeling the rainfall much harder on them. It began to storm, the rain much more aggressive than when they were in the house but that didn't stop their fun. Jake took off and ran for shelter under the big tree across the street, hearing Sunghoon run after him. But Jake just shook his head and ran out and onto the sidewalk, opening up his arms and looking up at the sky.
He welcomed all of the rain that fell upon them and Sunghoon did nothing but join him, enjoying the cold droplets falling on his face. They began to laugh. Jake looked back down and at Sunghoon, feeling Sunghoon wrap his arms around his waist. Their eyes bore into each other, Jake taking the time to wrap his arms around Sunghoon's neck.
They were drenched, hair wet as they stared at each other. Talking, communicating without opening their mouths. They knew exactly what they wanted to do, they knew exactly what was bound to happen and it did. Sunghoon pulled Jake even closer, pressing their lips together. Any ideas of stay safe, any thoughts of holding back because of the virus were gone with just one kiss. The moment felt precious, weird nonetheless... But the unique situation made it special.
Definitely a moment, a memory to remember.
