Summoning

This Thema has been unchecked for centuries, abandoned as a hopeless subject for mages to study upon; and it's not like they tried it.

There was once a mass study to uncover the secrets of this Thema but hundreds died because of the consequences of using magic unrelated to their own Themas; even those who did not choose any Thema, all of them died due to unknown reasons.

But I know why...

A magic circle was drawn on the ground, a common thing for summoning as I sliced my finger and dropped my blood in the middle of the circle, "I call upon you, by the god of fire, help me through the help of your flames!" I chanted as the magic circle started to glow.

Smoke appeared out of nowhere as it slowly formed into an orange canine in the body of a man, "Who dares awake this great one!" He asked as he was crossing his arm in dominance to me, a feeble lady as thin as a stick.

I kneeled as I greeted like what that man did, "Oh great Old One, I require your power in exchange for my body." I proposed as I looked below.

"Hah...  I see, that body of yours looks limitless. HAHAHAHHAHHAHA I accept, young one! I have seen your future and it seems promising, use me as you like!" The echoing voice of the demon laughing made me shake a bit but I was successful.

The demon became smoke once more as he enveloped my body and went inside me.

I felt a sharp pain as I started to vomit black blood, "Arghhh!" I lost my strength as I fell to the ground with a shock on my face. The shock that I have succeeded on my first try!

The door slammed open as Joy looked distressed, she saw me lying on the ground beside a black liquid as she ran towards me, "Milady, are you okay?! I heard your groans, I thought you were in trouble!" She seemed worried as I only smiled.

I touched her cheek with a glowing face despite the tired spirit as I declared to her, "I succeeded!"

Her eyes sparkled as she hugged me like we were friends, she was shouting "Yes, to think our lady would be the first to master Summoning!" She yelled, celebrating until she found out she was too close to the Duke's only daughter, and apologized while I tried to say it was okay.

The Summoning Thema was an old Thema that dated even thousands of years ago — that's why experts are trying so hard to discover its origin and how to make it work but it only failed after all of that.

Except for one man, the second antagonist of the story that sided with Yveria for revenge — The Second Prince, Blake Light.

He was a prince born differently.  The Light Royal Family usually has white hair and golden eyes but he possessed the opposite, with black hair and red eyes. Additionally, his magical power was only 2, which royal families usually have 8-10.

This caused gossips that the second prince was cursed by the devils, casting him out in the countryside without allowance or money to make him survive. They were leaving him to die.

Do you see a connection here, to how Summoning works?

Summoning was a type of Thema that used Devils as an aid for the people — ancient people who had yet to develop an idea of what magical power is. It meant that summoning was a thema for people who have no or little magic, relying on the devil to do it for them.

But this became a problem for the ancient people because the Devils always demanded an equivalent exchange. People who feared death started to develop magic and thousands of years later, they abandoned Summoning.

For me, I exchanged my body that is lacking mana — which devils usually hate.

The devils usually roam the world, hating on mana and loving people who do not have any mana and that's Me. The black blood that came out of me should be the remaining 0.5 of mana within me, meaning that I have no mana left in my body.

People died because of this process. When too much mana leaves their body, the body can't take the toll and lose function. Thanks to the fact that I only have little mana, to begin with, it was nothing that painful to feel.

"And so..."  Fire came out of my hand as I immediately gained the power of a magical power of 10 if I wanted to. The Devil within me will not do anything to me and make my body his home and if possible, even summon more!

I kneeled towards the Devil, but now the Devil has become my pet. As long as he is within my body, he will kneel back to me, where mana is absent!

I smiled at the thought that me knowing the future was a cheat, plus using the cheat Thema — I could not imagine even the strongest magician in the continent could stop me!

But...

That's not what I want.

"Joy, bring me the mansion's management book." I ordered Joy as I sat down at my father's desk as I was ready to carry on the responsibilities that Yvaria tried to run, to succeed the Bellany Family!

"Y-Yes, milady!" Joy ran outside as her smile was nothing more gleaming than before. "Milady has changed for the better, I could even see the ring her father gave her! I need to keep up!" She thought as she followed what Yveria ordered.

To be truthful, I just want to live a happy life.

Thanks to the fact that I won't be becoming the princess in the future, it would mean that the bigger responsibilities Belle would carry will not be in my back. I will manage the household from now on, especially since that father is still bedridden.

Gain a couple of businesses, maybe buy luxurious clothes for a party! If I could live my life like this, it would be, by far, better than the life I've lived before!

Summoning will be of use for the future, something is gonna happen.

"Come out, kyubi..." I muttered as fires came out of my hand as it spiralled behind me to form the Devil's animal form — a yellowish-orange fox with nine tails. As tall as I could stand, he looked fierce but calm as he placed his head down my lap while I sit and comfortably relaxed.

I patted his head as I muttered to nowhere, "'That' event will be coming soon, I need to set up the traps." As I smiled, thinking about how the first prince would react if I were to do such a thing later on.
