ephemeral

ephemeral- lasting a very short time

blue light and computer screens
conversations through the typed words of emails
and then the first sight
and the first hug
and the first year

the dings of chat messages
laughter that no one seems to understand
the silence that never seems harsh
the words we wouldn't tell anyone else

casual conversations
subtle and subdued
music and magic and friendship and-

the clicking of the timer
the days counting down
clouds and sun and stars and moon
whispers of promises we won't keep

and as it comes closer time is no longer mine
you look like you're about to cry through my blurry eyes
when did we get here?
how can i say goodbye?

our time together was
ephemeral
