They say that the most painful way of losing someone is seeing them fall in love with another person, but you think otherwise. Love is something that grows from the heart, and is continuously nurtured, like a blooming flower. But when suddenly broken off from its stem, it soon loses all its beauty.

That's more painful. Waking up one day, looking into your lover's eyes, and not seeing a single twinkle within them.

Like a desperate fool, you try to salvage what's left of the withered flower. You try to water it, leave it to bask in the sunlight's rays, yet it remains unliving, drained of its color and radiance.

If this was how love was supposed to be, then you didn't want it.

Your heart shatters more, as you try to deny the truth that's lingering right in front of you. You know it’s coming, yet it doesn't hurt any less.

One day, he looks into your eyes, preparing to say something. You feel it, it's edging closer. It's on the tip of his tongue, like an unsaid mantra.

He smiles, a hint of melancholy in his eyes. "I think it’s time you set me free."

Your lips quiver, albeit not wanting to show how his words truly affected you. Tears threaten your eyes, slowly blurring your vision.

The same eyes, which you used to look at you lovingly, looked tired. Tired of trying to love you.

You knew that if you continued chasing on to a love that has died off, it would just be you chasing pavements.

With a bitter smile, tears stream down your cheeks. "Okay, I'll let you go, Jungwon." Tilting your chin upwards, you try to stop the tears that continue to sting your eyes.

"But just so you know, I love you."

He stays silent, a guilty expression on his face. You know he can't say it back.
