My legs couldn't carry me as fast as I wanted to go, I tripped several times running to Ashton's house, each time I'd pick myself up, my muscle screaming out in pain and continue running. I repeatedly banged on Ashton's door until he opened it.
His face was tired with deep purple bags under his eyes. "Skyler, what happened? Why are you here? Are you okay?" He kept firing questions at me and I felt as if I couldn't answer them, my head too messed up to comprehend what had just happened.
"Calum......The....house." I chocked on my words trying to get them out and broke down crying, my emotions overwhelming me. My knees buckled underneath me, causing me to collapse to the floor in utter shock and disbelief after what had happened.
Ashton quickly picked me up and brought me inside, my vision slowly beginning to black out.
----------------
I awoke on Ashton's sofa with I cold flannel pressed to my head, I slowly sat up my whole body shaking, still in utter shock. Ashton quickly ran towards me. "Woah, you need to stay lying down while I call the doctor." He hurriedly said, pushing me back down with his muscular arms.
"What time is it?" I asked, unsure of how I got here.
"It's about three o'clock in the afternoon now, but when you came around it was twenty past four in the morning." Ashton said rubbing the back of his neck. "Do you remember how you got here?" I shook my head. "You came banging on the door and you were shouting something about Calum and the house." The memories came back to me in small flashes then all at once, making me gasp as if someone had unlocked that part of my mind. The house had tried to kill me, I don't know how but it had tried. Calum had saved me but is still trapped himself.
"Don't call the doctor; I'm honestly fine Ashton trust me." The look on his face obviously showed he didn't believe me. "Please." I gave him my best puppy dog eyes. I know it's wrong to manipulate your friends, but I had no other choice. If I told the doctor what had happened they'd surely lock me up in a mental institution.
"Fine!" He said breaking his stare. "But please promise me you'll go to. see a doctor soon?"
"I promise." I wasn't intending to keep my promise. He left me alone for a while then, but my thoughts were racing. If I wanted to catch the house out I had to think smart, get proof.
"Ashton!" I shouted from where I was sat.
"Yeah?" The reply came from somewhere around the kitchen. I got up; a little unsteady to begin with but soon found him hunched over the table messing with something.
"I need to go into town for a little bit okay?" I asked.
"No, not if you are driving. I'll drive you." I whined at this. "You get no say in this Skyler."
I quickly washed my face in Ashton sink then realised I didn't have my purse. "For god's sake!" I said loudly. (Screw you wattpad suck one.)
"What?" Ashton asked from outside the door.
"Nothing, I just have to go back to the house, because I left my purse there." Trying to seem calm about the whole situation.
I hurriedly got my stuff together and made my way out of the house and along the street, Ashton a few paces behind me. There was a small dab of blood on the pavement from where I'd fallen and grazed my knee but that would was away, unlike the memories which will remain.
"What happened to the window?" Ashton asked staring at the vacant gap which I broke.
"Nothing, I'll get it boarded up later." I said acting like it was nothing. "The house needed new windows anyway."
I twisted the handle on the door but it wouldn't budge. "For god's sake." I sighed kicking it.
"I got it." Ashton said, jumping down from the porch and in through the window.
"Ashton No!" I shouted thoughts of what the house would do running through my head.
"No what?" He laughed opening the door with seemingly no effort.
I just pushed past him and grabbed my bag and keys. "Come on." I said, a cold feeling sweeping over me making me shiver.
The drive into town was quiet, just the sound of the radio filling the awkward silence. Ashton pulled the car to a stop outside the familiar looking shops. "I've got work, so I'll drop you in town then I'll meet you at the diner." I nodded and got out the car.
The stores had a similar look to the house all wooden, reminding me if an old western town. I made my way to the local hardware store and picked up wall paper and chipboard for the house. Then something caught my eye behind the counter. "Uh, I'll take the security system as well." I handed the cashier the money and made my way to the other stores.
I knew one thing for sure, this house was going to be hard to catch out.
