Violetstars flew as quickly as she could through the rainforest. It was a very stormy night, the thunder sounded like the roar of a dragon and it even made the trees and ground tremble, and the lighting flashed so bright, that it almost seemed like it was mid-day. The night itself was pitch dark. Violetstars landed for a moment to catch her breath, and to make sure the egg she was carrying in a small, orange-glowing flamesilk pouch that Violet made for the egg.
Violet's father was a silkwing, and a flamesilk, and her mother was a nightwing. Her mother raised here to be an assassin so she could follow in her footsteps. Violet grew up to be a very skilled assassin. But once she took less caution on a mission than she should have, and now she's being hunted. Probably for the rest of her life. Here Partner, A seawing/leafwing named Lakeshore, has been looking for a place they could both hide and raise their dragonet in peace.
Violet looked down at the egg she was cradling. She knew it was due to hatch tonight, and she was hurrying to find a temporary hiding place for the dragonet to do so.
"Hold on little one," She whispered. "You'll be safe soon, and nothing will ever harm you. I promise."
Violet's ears perked up when she heard rustling leaves not far from her. She barred her teeth and tensed her body. No dragon was gonna hurt her egg while she was here.
"Violet! Violet, can you hear me? Where are you?"
Violet quickly responded, "I'm over here, Lakeshore! Now quit shouting like a lunatic before you give me away!"
Soon the rustling leaves in front of her was quicker and more rushed to tell that the dragon making them move was running. Violet's body relaxed, and she let out a deep breath when Lakeshore appeared in front of here. He dimmed his phosphorescent scale to minimize the chance of being seen.
"Did you find anyplace for us to hide? Our little one is about to hatch." Violet said quietly.
Lakeshore shook his head. " I didn't. But I made one."
Violet gave him a look of worry. "You used your animus powers?"
Lakeshore nodded. " I had too, we need a place and you know it. Its not too big, its a small island, made too look like a rock coming out of the water, but it's hallow inside for us to live in and I enchanted moss to grow over the top so the sunlight can filter in but no one can see us. It's just a little was away from the rain forest so you aren't too far from you family."
Violet's wings dropped slightly at the mention of her parents. She hated to leave them, her was greatly disappointed in her for getting caught, but she'd still miss her.
Suddenly a shriek came from somewhere in the forest. it was hard to make out, but it sounded like a dragon crying for help. Violet took of the silk pouch that was carrying her egg and gave it to Lakeshore.
"Here, take our little one to the beach and wait for me. If I'm not out by dawn, leave without me."
Violet didn't wait for a response and ran through the wet forest plants in the direction of the shriek. She didn't notice it before, but it had stopped raining and the three moons were out full and bright. Another scream came, and this time she was sure it was a cry for help. She picked up her pace, skillfully dodging every tree in her path.
When she reached the source of the voice, she gasped. The dragon that was crying for help was a rainwing, it was covered in deep claw marks everywhere, and she was sure there were some somewhere vital judging by how much blood was on and around it. Violet rushed over to the injured Rainwing and crouched beside it. The Rainwing looked up at Violet and smiled weakly.
"Y-you came." She whispered hoarsely.
Violet looked at her with confusion. "Me?"
"Well... N-not you in particular," She coughed, getting more of the crimson substance on the ground, "I just needed s-somebody. Anybody."
Violet nodded quickly. "Right, you need help. Right now." She stood up quickly, but was stopped when the rainwing grabbed her arm.
"N-no, please." The Rainwing open her wings to reveal a tiny rainbow colored egg. "Please, take my dragonet. Its gonna hatch tonight. I don't w-want it to see me like th-this."
Violet looked at the Rainwing and nodded. She knew the injured dragon didn't have much time left. They both did. Violetstars quickly spun a pouch for the egg, just as she did for hers and hung it around her neck.
"Don't worry about your dragonet. I will raise it as my own" Violet whispered, then quickly took off as she heard other dragons approaching. She moved as fast as she could through the forest as she could. She slowed down a bit when he could slightly see the beach and Lakeshore. He quickly looked over at the sound of the rustling leaves and basically jumped with joy when he saw Violet. Violet gave him a sad smile. She couldn't stop thinking about the Rainwing.
Lakeshore pointed at the egg. "Where did you get that?"
Violet shook her head. "It's a long story. Where's our egg?" She asked when she noticed the missing pouch.
"It's about to hatch. So I stretched out the pouch to make a nest."
Violet nodded and walked over to her egg and placed the rainwing egg beside hers. She noticed some thing different about her egg.
She looked at Lakeshore. "Are you sure this is my egg? My egg was black and blue. Now it's silver and blue."
Lakeshore nodded. "It turned silver when the moonlight hit it. I remember reading something about Nightwing eggs doing that, it must be it's Nightwing side."
Violet heard a crack come from one of the eggs and looked down at them. It was hers, it started moving around as the little dragonet struggled to push itself out. The Rainwing egg started moving as well. She watched anxiously as both eggs cracked and moved more. She sighed with happy relief that her dragonet would get to see the beauty of the three moons before it would have to live a life of hiding.
