Sato walked towards the kitchen doors, his hands holding a tray of eclairs. Ahead of him walked Saya, using her hands to carry a tray of assorted danishes, and a tray of fruit tarts balanced carefully upon her head.
"Are ya sure you got that?" Sato asked as he followed her towards the doors, "We can make two trips ya know."
"No worries! I got it, I've been practicing balancing the trays for a few weeks while we were getting set up," she reassured him with a smile.
Using her hip, she pushed the kitchen doors open cautiously. As Saya peered into the cafe, she didn't see the three customers and was confused as to where they went. She stepped past the door and towards the counter as three ear piercing shrieks suddenly rang throughout the store. Startled, Saya let out a scream herself as her body jumped backwards in freight. Her hands had instinctively let go of the tray she was holding, tossing the tray up in the air and the danishes scattering across and over the counter, as she tried to catch her footing from the sudden panic. She reached her hands up and managed to steady the tray of fruit tarts, only half of them slipping off and crashing onto the floor.
Sato quickly stepped out from behind the doors and into the cafe, "Saya are ya alright dear? What is goin' on who was screamin'?" He asked, setting the trays he was holding onto the counter and carefully taking the tray of tarts from her.
Saya nodded, "Yes I am a-alright, I have no idea what happened."
Sato placed the tray of tarts down onto the counter as he heard frantic whispering coming from the other side. He leaned over the counter, looking down at the trio, "Are ya'll okay? What's goin' on?"
Kenji was laying on his back on the floor, his right hand placed over his heart as he tried to calm down, the other hand holding a lemon danish he was eating. Kita was knelt on the ground, picking up the danishes that had fallen over the counter, as Megumi quietly lectured her brother in harsh whispers.
They all looked up at Sato, who was leaning over the counter as they heard his voice."We are okay! Sorry 'bout that. We, uh..." Megumi paused as she tried to think of a lie.
"We thought we saw a ghost!" Kenji said frantically with his mouth full as he sat up, Kita and Megumi sighing at his response.
Sato raised an eyebrow as he listened to them, "A ghost? Ya know there ain't no such things as ghosts."
"I know I know! But h-how do you explain the floatin' tarts then?" Kenji stammered, fear still in his voice.
"The floatin'...tarts?" Sato questioned as Megumi and Kenji quickly nodded in reply as Kita quickly glanced up at the elderly man, secretly awaiting his response as well.
Sato tilted his head to the side in thought as he put two and two together. A hearty laugh escaped his lips as the trio watched him in confusion.
"This ain't a laughin' matter!" Kenji trembled, "Sato-san you have a ghost in here!"
Sato continued to laugh, wiping the forming tears from his eyes as he calmed down. He looked at Saya who sweat dropped as she realized as well that they must have mistaken her as a ghost. She stepped beside Sato and placed her hands on the counter, pushing up on them and her toes to peer over the counter and down at the trio as well.
Their eyes widened as they looked away from Sato and towards the small red headed woman who leaned beside him. Her blue eyes looked back at them, her cheeks dusted a light shade of pink due to the embarrassment of the situation
