[Next Day, Christmas]
Saya and Kita slept in later than normal. Usually they wake up around four thirty a.m. so they can get ready for their six a.m. shifts, but it was eight a.m. and they were both still asleep. Kita was sleeping on his stomach with an arm placed under his pillow, his head facing towards Saya, who was sleeping on her side facing Kita, one of her legs draped across his as she hugged her stuffed fox.
Kita still did not close the door shut at night, wanting to make sure Saya was completely comfortable even though they had been sharing a bed for weeks. Yumie made her way up the stairs and peeked into the bedroom, seeing the two of them still sleeping as she smiled. She was so happy that her grandson had found a woman that complimented him so perfectly, who completed him. Yumie knew that neither of them had made it official yet, but she hoped that would happen soon. The two of them deserved each other.
Yumie creaked the door closed slightly, deciding to let them continue to sleep until she was done making breakfast and made her way back downstairs. Saya woke up when she heard the sound of the door and yawned. She slowly opened her eyes and looked at Kita, who was still sleeping. This was the first time she had ever woken up before him, as Kita was always so punctual.
Saya let go of her fox plushie and placed it behind her on the bed. She scooted closer to Kita as he slept and admired how peaceful he looked. She realized her leg was draped across his but didn't move it because Kita seemed to be comfortable. She started to wonder if that is something she does often at night.
Over the past few weeks that they spent sharing a bed, he had never once touched her without asking. Sometimes they would fall asleep with their hands held after making shadow puppets. Or they would be laying on their sides facing each other and he would ask if he could put an arm across her, and she always said yes. But Kita made sure to keep his body somewhat distanced from her to give her space, and even with his hand resting on her upper waist as they slept, she never once felt it roam.
Kita was truly a gentleman to his core, and had such a profound deep respect for her and her boundaries. Saya didn't know what she did in this life to deserve having him a part of it. As Kita continued to sleep, Saya reached a hand up and gently ran her fingers through his hair. His hair was so soft and she loved to feel it on her fingers. She lightly swept his bangs away from his forehead and soothingly stroked his hair as she admired him.
Kita's eyes started to flutter as he woke up, feeling really calm for some reason and not sure why. He opened his eyes and saw that Saya was lying close to him, her eyes closed as she continuously stroked his hair. Kita felt her leg draped across his, like he did every morning when he woke up, but this was the first time he had ever felt her touch him. Kita had no idea why Santa was so good to him this year.
Saya felt Kita move slightly under her hand. She opened her eyes and saw he was looking at her, his eyes still in a tired daze, his cheeks slightly flushed from his sleep. Saya blushed, but she didn't pull back as she saw how content he looked, and she was learning to put her shyness aside since it was Kita. As long as it was Kita, everything would be okay.
Seeing that he was waking up, she slowly ran her fingers through his hair; a satisfied low, barely audible groan escaping his lips as he enjoyed her touch. Saya felt like her heart was going to burst out of chest upon hearing such a sound from him. His eyes met hers and she smiled at him, "Good morning, Merry Christmas, Shinsuke."
Upon hearing her say his name, he perked up a bit. He wasn't sure why he did what he did next, but he blamed it on the fact he was still waking up. He brought a hand up and placed it behind Saya's head, leaning forward and pressing his lips softly against her forehead.
