I run my fingers down my dress as I stare at my appearance in the mirror. I'm wearing my brand new black dress that has intricate lace detailing on. My hair has been curled and tied back with my usual blue ribbons in my favourite style. And for the first time ever I'm wearing a small amount of makeup. Just a touch of a natural pink lipstick and a light blush on my cheeks.
"Do I look alright?" I ask, turning to Meyrin. She smiles widely at me and nods.
"You look perfect, miss" She replies and opens the door for me to leave. Swallowing slowly, I walk out of the room and down the corridor. My heart rate increasing as I near the top of the staircase. It turns out that the dinner I had helped Sebastian prepare was for a ball that Ciel is obligated to hold once every summer, and according to Meyrin, Sebastian plans to propose to me tonight. My heart flutters at the thought and my eyes widen as they land on Sebastian when I reach the top of the staircase.
Instead of his usual butler attire, Sebastian is wearing a fitted black suit with a white, tightly fitted shirt and a green tie. He is absolutely breathtaking. His head turns as I begin my descent down the stairs. I smile at him nervously and he reciprocates (doing so beautifully and flawlessly), walking towards me confidently.
Once I reach the bottom of the staircase Sebastian takes my hand in his (which are strangely covered in black gloves instead of white) and gently kisses the back of it, before taking my arm in his and leading me to where Ciel and Elizabeth are dancing. Wow, Ciel is actually dancing. My eyes widen dramatically in shock as we near them.
"Cousin, I didn't think you would actually dance" I exclaim, as we come to a stop and watch Ciel be spun around by Lizzie. Sebastian chortles quite loudly when Ciel trips over his own foot and falls backwards, landing flat on his behind. A small laugh escapes my lips too when Ciel stands up. His face looks like somebody had slapped him in it with rotten fish. He stomps his foot whilst folding his arms angrily, causing our little group to laugh with much more gusto.
"Oh, Bassy. It's you" A shrill voice shrieks and before I know it a man with long red hair is clinging to Sebastian's side. His fabulous long red coat is slightly slipping from his shoulders, and he stares up at Sebastian with great admiration from behind red half-moon spectacles. I giggle loudly and unwind my arm from Sebastian's, stepping away to take in the scene before me. Sebastian squirms in the man's hold and looks extremely uncomfortable indeed. "I haven't seen you in so long, Bassy. And I must say you do look dashing tonight" The man smiles widely whilst blushing heavily, showing his sharply pointed teeth.
"Bassy?" I giggle once more, as Sebastian growls lowly and swiftly hits the peculiar man with his gloved hand. He then proceeds to kick the man in the stomach, causing him to release Sebastian. Brushing his hands together, Sebastian glances at me pointedly whilst I laugh quite uncontrollably. "Well, excuse me Bassy, but you do look dashing tonight" I mimick the red haired man who is now lying in a heap of pain a couple of metres away from me. Sebastian strides over to my side elegantly, takes hold of my hand and hauls me out of the hall. "Ooh, Bassy. I think I might swoon" I place my hand on my forehead, before chortling as he pulls me outside and on to the veranda.
Suddenly, his lips crash onto mine and I stumble backwards minimally, clutching onto him in an attempt to stay upright. His lips devour mine hungrily, and his tongue tangles itself with mine. His arms wrap around me tightly and my grip tightens on the lapels of his suit jacket. I retract my tongue and pull away from his lips, letting go of his clothing and panting heavily.
"Se-bastian, this... Isn't right" I breath, still recovering my senses. His crimson eyes sparkle in the moonlight that is illuminating us. My heart skips a beat when a light breeze tousles his black hair. "We're not married. This is wrong" I gesture between us as the words tumble out of my quivering lips.
"Marry me then" He steps towards me steadily and lowers himself onto one knee. My breath catches in my throat whilst I watch his trembling hands reach into his trouser pocket. I nibble my lip nervously when he produces a small quaint black box. The box snaps open and a beautiful silver ring with a ruby in the shape of a heart sits inside of it.
"Lady Ophelia Rosaline Victoria Phantomhive. I have only had the pleasure of knowing you for the short time of two months, but I have become completely smitten with you. You're perfect in every way possible. Your beauty is unparalleled and your kindness shines from you like the sun. I want to spend the rest of eternity with you. Will you do me the greatest honour of being my wife?" Sebastian glances up at me, anticipation and nerves present in his eyes. Tears gather on my bottom eye lids and I nod happily. A quiet 'yes' escaping my lips before Sebastian shakily places the ring on my left hand. Words fail me as he stands and I embrace him tightly, tears flowing down my cheeks freely. A huge smile overtakes my face and a nervous laugh escapes Sebastian's lips.
Then, my feet leave the ground and Sebastian spins us around slowly, chuckling gleefully. A laugh escapes my lips as he lowers me back down onto the floor. Sebastian grins happily down at me and I grin helplessly back at him.
The sudden sound of somebody clearing their throat disintegrates our bubble of happiness and I spin around, letting go of Sebastian. I come face to face with the male from earlier. A frown is present upon his features and his arms are folded sternly over his black waistcoat.
"Grell, what do you want now?" Sebastian sighs. His voice is heavy with aggravation and a hint of anger. All sense of fun and happiness is eradicated from his persona.
"You didn't tell me you were courting, Bassy" Grell pouts, flipping his red tresses casually out of his face. I feel Sebastian's arm wrap around my waist carefully and Grell's eyes widen behind his spectacles.
"Actually, I'm engaged to this beautiful lady" Sebastian smiles warmly down at me and I blush furiously, dropping my gaze to the grey floor.
"If you ask me, she's way too innocent for you, Bassy. I'll give you what you want, day and night. I'll have your children, Bassy" Grell gushes, giggling slightly when he finishes. I chuckle quietly at the sheer absurdity of his statement.
"Excuse me, but we need to go announce our engagement" Sebastian replies. His voice monotone and his face stoic. I can tell by the look in his eyes and the way that his fists are clenched tightly that he wants to seriously injure or maime this Grell person. In my opinion, it would be amusing to observe. Sebastian leads me past Grell and into the manor. "I'm sorry about that. Grell is a bit... Overbearing to say the least" He whispers as we walk down the corridor. His hand is still resting on my waist and I can't help but become overwhelmed entirely. Tears slowly fall from my lashes and before soon I'm sobbing erratically.
For what reason, I don't honestly know.
I hear a gasp escape Sebastian's lips and he suddenly takes my face in his hands, crouching down so that his eyes are align with mine. His beautiful blood red orbs stare at me, full of worry and concern. My heart melts as I feel his eyes analyse me, ensuring that I am alright.
"What's the matter, Ophelia?" He finally asks. His smooth, deep voice is thick with concern and love.
"It's nothing... I'm j-j-just overwhelmed by how m-much I l-love you" I stutter, tears still falling from eyelashes sporadically. His eyes soften slightly and his mouth shifts into a small smile.
"I love you too. Now, please don't cry. Beautiful people shouldn't cry, understood?" Sebastian responds simply. I nod, smiling when the fact that he just complimented me sinks in. Wrapping my arms around him, I let out a content sigh and feel his arms encase me, causing me to feel extremely safe and secure. I wonder what the future shall hold for us. Eternity is a lot to promise, Sebastian.
