The next day I awake feeling refreshed. I hop out of bed and Meyrin speedily dresses me in my navy, silk gown. For some unknown reason I have an unremovable smile on my face that won't leave.
"You seem happy this morning, miss" Meyrin comments as she begins to brush my hair. I nod swiftly whilst she continues to brush. "Sebastian has asked you to meet him at the edge of the woods at noon" She speaks, delicately placing navy blue ribbons into my curled hairstyle.
"Has he?" I ask, slightly confused.
"Yes, he was quite stern about it, miss" She replies, before stepping back; and I stand from my seat.
"I understand" I smile at her before leaving my room. I glance at the grandfather clock as I pass it. It's 11:30. I must've slept longer than I thought. Shrugging it off, I continue down the corridor and down the stairs. When I reach the bottom of the staircase I spot Hamish and pick him up immediately.
"Fancy being my chaperone, Hamish?" I laugh, as I carry him through the manor and out of the back doors. Steadily, I walk down the stone steps and stroll along the path towards the woods, stroking Hamish under his chin.
When I spot Sebastian stood by the entrance of the woods I slow down minimally. I observe him whilst I continue walking. Every couple of seconds he pulls out his pocket watch and looks at it, before replacing back in his coat. I giggle quietly and Hamish meows loudly in discomfort, as I had accidentally stopped stroking him.
"Sorry, Hamish" I apologize, noticing Sebastian staring at us and smiling. Continuing to walk, I eventually reach Sebastian. His smile widens when he spots Hamish in my arms. "He's my chaperone, so if you step out of line. The claws come out" I speak, lifting up one of Hamish's paws and gesturing to his claws. Sebastian nods, before taking my right hand and kissing the back of it.
"Shall we?" He gestures to the picnic basket in his hand. Flustered, I nod in response and follow him when he starts to walk down the path. We stroll silently for several minutes.
"You lied to me" I state, shattering the silence of the greenery that surrounds us. Sebastian glances down at me with a look of confusion on his face. "You said that Ciel had told you to guard me, but he'd told you to stay away from me" I look up at him and our eyes meet. His eyes flash bright red, like I've seem them do many times before. My cheeks flush and I avert my gaze to a nearby tree.
"I only lied to you, because I wanted to spend more time with you" He replies, nonchalantly.
"Then why not say that in the first place?" I sigh, hugging Hamish closer to my body. He has now fallen asleep and little snores emanate from his pursed lips.
"You told me that you weren't interested in marriage. You were sending me mixed signals. One minute you were staring at my ass and the next you hated me!" Sebastian shouts, causing all of the birds in the surrounding trees to fly away quickly. Hamish wakes up immediately and jumps out of my arms. He runs back to the manor, as I slowly back away from Sebastian, trembling. Sebastian reaches out to touch me, but I flinch away. He let's out a sigh of defeat. I put my hands up in defence and back away from him.
"I won't hurt you" Sebastian sighs, reaching out his right hand and stroking my cheek softly. I pull away and his hand drops to his side. I drop my gaze to my feet. My cheeks blush heavily.
Suddenly, Sebastian scoops me up into his arms and runs quickly down the path. Deeper into the woods. Trees whiz past us in a blur and I cling onto Sebastian tightly in fear.
What is he doing?
"Sebastian, what are you doing?" I ask, closing my eyes tightly whilst he continues to run.
