Having exchanged New Year's wishes with our families over the phone the next morning, Jonny and I decided to go for a walk in Hampstead Heath, a beautiful, large and quiet forest and park near our house.

He has already been completely dressed and waited outside the house; I grabbed a black scarf and followed him. Gosh, these jeans looked so stunning on him.

"My parents have asked me to visit them next week, and they told me they would love it if you came with me", I broke the silence suddenly remembering what they had told me as we were walking down the street.

"Oh really? That sounds great, I'd really love to get to know your parents!", he answered glancing at me and adjusted his cap.

"Oh, that's great, they've actually wanted me to introduce you to them for a long time actually, they're always very curious when it comes to my love life." I chuckled. "And I hate disappointing them, but now I've finally and luckily got something to show to them. Ladies and Gentlemen, my love." I proceeded to present him to some imaginary people and made him laugh by doing that, but he went on playing my game.

"I'm really pleased to finally meet you." He bowed elegantly and took an imaginary hand to plant a gentleman-ish kiss on it. I couldn't hold my laughter back at this point and so we stood giggling on some random street in London; any people who came towards us (there weren't many, though, since it was quite early) must have thought we were two crazy lunatics, none of us did really mind, though.

Five days later, we stood on a not random street in Germany, in front of my parents' house.

"Allright, should we go inside?", I asked Jonny. He has seemed a bit nervous and uncomfortable since we left the airport, well, he always felt uncomfortable in the company of unknown people which I could actually understand.

He looked at me and took a deep breath.

"Allright, let's go." He smiled at me assuring.

"I'll translate for you, and besides, you know that my mum can speak English really well and my dad's English is also quite okay", I told him for the 100th time this day because I could feel that he still was a bit tense.

I walked towards the door and rang the bell. We could hear some footsteps coming nearer and then my mum opened the door. As soon as she saw us, a big smile spread on her face and she hugged me tightly. She greeted me in German and then faced Jonny.

"Hello, Jonny, I'm really happy to finally meet you!", she exclaimed excitedly with her thick American accent and her direct attitude and they politely shook hands.

"Oh, thank you very much, I'm very pleased to meet you, too!", he replied smiling and seemed to have relaxed a bit.

My mum lead us inside and we took off our coats and shoes, then we sat down on the couch in the living room.

"Where's dad, by the way?", I asked my mother. We had agreed in only talking English when Jonny was around on the phone.

"He's buying some stuff for our lunch, he should be here like...ehr... Now." Right when she said that, his car stopped in front of the house. We all shared a short laugh and my mum hurried outside to welcome him and help him carry the goods inside.

As soon as she had left the house, Jonny leant over to me and whispered,

"Your mother is awesome."

"Haha, so you like her? But see, I told you it wouldn't be terrible at all!"

He nodded and grinned and our little talk was interrupted by my parents who entered the kitchen a bit, uh, loudly, and I introduced Jonny to my dad.
