What is Love?(Newt x reader)

Chapter 8: Some of us have to go.

YN POV

Newt was slowly getting better, he hasn't had a panic attack in 3 weeks, he was starting to eat more and he just looked happier. We were in the garden now, helping the track-hoes with their work when out of no were we heard a blood curdling scream. Newt and I looked at each other and then ran in the direction of the scream.

We found ourselves by the box, three boys were standing there holding a rope and something or someone was attached to it. We quickly ran up to the boys.

"Hey, what's going on here!?" I shouted at them, all of them looked up at me and one, I think his name was Nick said,

"We're trying to find a way out, since your clearly not doing anything."

"Excuse me?" I replied.

"We tied George up to the rope and we're trying to get him down the hole." He answered cockily.
"Pull him up right now!" I yelled, starting to get worried about George.

"Make me." He replied. He was suddenly yanked towards the hole only inches away from falling to his death.

"Pull him up!" Newt yelled, the boys listened to him and started pulling.

But what came to the top would scar everyone for the rest of their lives. Gorge was drenched in blood, half of his body was cut clean off, his face was pale and his beautiful blue eyes were cold and dark. I heard Newt next to me starting to breathe heavily.

"George! No, please no." He shouted, his voice cracking. Newt just witnessed one of his closest friends die, I wasn't really that close with Gorge but it still hurt. Newt then fell to his knees hyperventilating, I fell onto my knees in front of Newt and grabbed his shoulders.

"Hey, hey look at me, calm down, just breathe." I said.

"I-I can't." He breathed out.

"Newt, Newt come on it's okay just breathe." I said, but he didn't listen, he couldn't.

I didn't have any other option left, I tried to make him breathe and calm down but he just couldn't. I made a split second decision, I grabbed his cheeks and kissed him softly, he started to kiss back and that's when I knew he could breathe again. I pulled my lips away and opened my eyes, he looked a bit shocked.

"How did you do that?" he asked.

"You couldn't breathe, and I remember from somewhere that when you have a panic attack you have to hold your breath, so when I kissed you, you stopped breathing." I replied. "Come on we need to get Alby." I added after a short silence.

We both got up and went to find Alby, we found him at the homestead and explained everything to him.

"They did what!?" Alby yelled. "Okay put them in the slammer and I'll call a meeting and get the baggers to tidy up. Meeting's in 30 minutes" He said. "Okay?" He asked.

"Y-yeah, okay" Newt said his voice cracking. So we went and found the 3 boys from earlier, they were just siting at the edge of the deadheads laughing, as if nothing happened. I could see Newt tense up from the corner of my eyes, so I grabbed his hand and looked him in the eyes.

"It's going to be okay." I said. He just nodded, scared that if he said something he might breakdown again. We went up to the boys, they looked up at us, still laughing.

"Come on, get up, your going to the slammer." I said authority laced in my voice.

"What? Why?" Nick asked.

"WHY!?" Newt yelled. "YOU WENT BEHIND OUR BACKS SUPOSEDLY TRYING TO FIND A WAY OUT WITHOUT EVEN CONSULTING US! YOU KILLED ONE OF MY BESTFRIENDS AND NOW YOUR LAUGHING AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED! YOU KILLED HIM!" Newt shouted, making the boys shut up. "Now get your arses up and do as we say or I'll kill you myself." He added, a bit more calmly. The 3 boys then quickly got up and started following us to the slammer. We locked them in and then went to the meeting.

We were the first ones there, we stayed standing and just talked.

"You okay?" I asked Newt.

"Honestly, no. The basterds just killed my friend and they have the audacity to act as if nothing happened." He explained. "Are you okay?" He asked.

"No. I don't think I'll ever be after seeing that." I replied. Newt suddenly wrapped his arms around me, and I hugged him back.

"I don't think anyone will ever be okay here, but we have to get through this together. We have to help each other, just like you help me. Thank you, for helping me get through this." He said.

"Hey, you help me too, without even knowing it, just by being here." I replied. That's when it hit me, I have feelings for Newt. I don't know how it happened, but today made me realise that I do.

"I-I have to tell you something." Newt said after a moment of silence. "I think I might have fee-" He was suddenly cut off by the door opening.

"Aww, look at you two. Being all cute and stuff." Minho said.

"Oh shut up." Newt and I both said at the same time.

"Ugh, just stop with the hugging the meetings about to start." He says rolling his eyes. So me and Newt both pulled away and went to sit down.

Everyone soon came and we started the meeting.

"So since we all now know what happened to George and why it happened, we need to decide a punishment for the boys that took part in it." Alby says. "Any ideas?" he added.

"I honestly think we should banish them, they clearly violated the rules and they killed a person." Gally said. All of us agreed to this and decided the banishing would be happening next week.

"Okay, now that that's over with, you are dismissed." Alby said.

Newt and I then went to dinner and stayed silent for most of it.

We then went to our room and just sat on my bed together, facing the opposite wall.

"What were you going to tell me before Minho interrupted you?" I asked him.

"This might change things between us, but I need to tell you." He replied.

"Okay....." I said confused.

He took a deep breathe, "I think- I think I'm in love with you." He said. "Actually I know I'm in love with you completely and utterly in love with you, I obviously don't expect you to feel the same, why would you? I'm just a broken person that can't be fixed an-" I cut him off by smashing my lips onto his, he was shocked at first and it took him a couple seconds to kiss me back.

"I love you too, Newt." I said. "And I don't care about your flaws, we all have them. But to me you're perfect." I added.

"Does that mean you'll be my girlfriend?" He asked.

"Of course. Now lets go to sleep I'm tired." He just laughed and kissed me again. Then got up and started walking towards his bed, before he could walk too far I grabbed his hand and pulled him onto the bed with me.

"Stay. Your warm." I said smiling. He just laughed and laid down next to me under the covers. I put my head on his chest and wrapped my arm around his torso, he wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Night, Newt" I said closing my eyes.

"Night, love" he replied. And with that I fell asleep in the arms of the person that I love listening to his steady heartbeat.
