Chapter Three.

     " I think Bob is cool" Abby said while we were having dinner. Mom and Bob were out on a dinner date.
  " You  met him?" I ask.
She nodded " A week ago"
Now I'm offended. " I just met Bob today and then mom decides to go out with him on the same day she didn't even ask for your opinion"
"Because your option is irrelevant" Abby quipped and I glare at her. I was expecting Granny Beth to say something but she just ate her dinner quietly. I was scared for my mom, I didn't want her to get hurt, I'm sure she has suffered heartbreak a couple of times. Her first boyfriend impregnated her when she was sixteen, Her parents kicked her out and she came to America from Cuba to stay with Aunt Bethany, then she had Rivers, She dated for a while and met dad five years later, they dated for a while and had me, then Abby and Dad decided to fuck up and left three years ago. I don't know if I can ever forgive him because I don't think he can come up with any reasonable excuse. But one thing I am happy about is that mum got to keep the house and she has multiple shares in his electronics company. She fought her divorce case herself, perks of being a good lawyer. Her boyfriend after Dad was Tony, He hated children and doesn't know how to drive a car. They ended things when mum realised he was cheating on her with his gay best friend. I still remember that break-up month was really awful for every one in the house cause mom was always on the edge.
       
I pulled out my phone and texted ADRIoT GiRLS.
 
FYI people....  Picture day is tomorrow and you are welcome.
 
Immediately my phone chimed repeatedly.

Maddie
If tomorrow was picture day it will have have been announced.
 
Sondra
Seriously?

I rolled my eyes at Maddie's message.

Steph
This is wonderful I'm glad I went to get my hair styled at the salon today now I look gorgeous as fuck.
 
I chuckled at Steph's message wondering why Max isn't replying our messages.
                                        
                                                                      
     Picture day.

I let out a heavy breath. I made sure my eye liner and mascara were perfectly applied, I also made sure I recited the our father and hail Marys Father Paul told me to recite I don't want my picture to go wrong this time, Collins, the photographer is a really impatient man. Altagracia handed me my breakfast. But I shook my head.
"I'll pass"
She frowned, " It's your favorite"
"Thanks Alta, I'll just take an apple for breakfast, I'm really not hungry"
I reached for an apple and smiled at her and she gave me a weird look as I rushed out.

   Percy smirked when she saw the apple in my hand as I took a bite.
"What happened to breakfast is the most important meal of the day?"
I swallowed the chewed apple in my mouth.
"This is also breakfast and I am panicking because it is picture day"
" You are a bitch" Percy said
" I'm sorry I didn't tell you but you always look nice in all your pictures"
Percy gave me a look and I gave her one of my best stares back.
"Whatever" she said.
                                                                       
I kept my back pack in my locker and shut it.
" Jojo" Max said  aloud down the hall and she earned some stares from the students around.  
Stephanie who was beside me groaned. "Why exactly is Max my friend, I'm sure it's about the class president stuff or Austin broke up with Piper.
She walked up to me with a big smile on her face.

I kept chanting  in my head.
"Guess what baby" she said loudly.
" Your cat died" I rolled my eyes.
She frowned " I don't have a cat"
"And I don't have to guess because I always guess wrong". I told her.
She blinked severally at me before smiling again. " I'll tell you it's good news"
I inhale and exhale deeply.
" I don't think it's good news for Joey" Steph said as Sondra and Maddie walked up to us.
" You know about the bad news or the good news and you have been beside me the whole time without telling me"
Steph gave me a sultry smile like she was trying to seduce me. ( Steph is bisexual).
" It's good news Jojo, Hunter freaking Black is back to school" Max announced.
I froze, I think I'm going to cry
" I thought he transferred"
Maddie scoffed. " I'll totally kill for Hunter to bother me the way he bothers you. That dude is drop dead gorgeous".
" He is my man candy" Max grinned.
Is she for real?
" What about Austin?" I ask.
" Fuck Austin" she laughed.
" I've told you we don't know Austin anymore" Sondra told me.
"Hey Max be careful or Joey will claw your eyes out for saying Hunter is your man candy" Maddie said and they all laughed, I rolled my eyes.
" But sorry to break it to you Joey, he is also my man candy" Maddie gave me a sweet smile.
" I don't care" I said through gritted teeth.
" What do you mean you don't care, you guys are like Steve Austin's Bonnie and Clyde"
I glared at Sondra for what she said and she blew me a kiss.
" You and Andy are Bonnie and Clyde" I told Sondra. She was Andy Jefferson's girlfriend, Andy is Hunter's best friend.
" You are wrong Jo, Our love story is more like  err......"
" Shrek and Fiona" Steph interrupted Sondra and we all burst out laughing while Sondra glared at her twin sister.
The bell rang. I have AP English now.
                                                                      
I walked into the room where the pictures were taken, there was a long line of students. I stood behind a girl with frizzy Auburn hair.
"Joey"
That was Sondra's voice she was standing beside the photographer waving at me . Wait a minute the photographer isn't Collins I eye his brown hair. That's Andy and the person beside him  with jet black hair holding a book and pen. I took a sharp breath.
Hunter
But why the fuck are they the ones in charge of taking the pictures and where is Collins.
"Joey over here"
Sondra kept calling loudly as she continued waving. I groaned what type of friends do I keep. There was no way to pretend I didn't hear her because everyone but Andy(because he was taking pictures) and Hunter turned to look at me. For some reason Hunter acted like he didn't hear my name or maybe he doesn't care about bothering me again. I'm supposed to be happy about that right?. I smiled and waved back at Sondra hoping that she won't tell me to come over.
" Come here, you can't wait in that long line"
She said aloud and I heard protests from other students. But she walked up to me her blonde hair bouncing.
" My boyfriend is the photographer for today and as my friend you cannot wait in line" she held my hand.
" Nnno it's fine" I shuttered.
I don't think she heard me or maybe she pretended like she didn't because she pulled me with her. I swallowed when we got there, I glanced at Hunter his jet black hair was a little messy and his electric blue eyes where on a laptop he seemed engrossed in what he was doing, probably helping Andy with the pictures.
"Babe" Sondra snaked her arm around her boyfriend's shoulder and he gave her a quick kiss on her temple before turning to look at me.
" Joey" he smirked before glancing at Hunter briefly and looking back at me .
" Hey Andy" I managed to say.
Sondra stopped a brunette guy with black glasses, he is in my history class I think his name is Rory.
" Joey is going next" she told him
I'm  not surprised no one on the queue complained again or they will have to face Sondra she can be really bossy.
" Ready?" Andy asked and I nodded as I went to sit on the stool I inhaled deeply as I glanced at Hunter again and this time our eyes met, His electric blue gaze made me nervous, I just feel like if he teases me like he always does I'll feel better, but he just looked back at his laptop. I sighed what is wrong with him, why do I even care I should be glad he isn't bothering me anymore.
" Andy, Joey's picture has to be on fleek" Sondra said smiling at me.
" Alright babe" Andy said and Hunter chuckled. What's so funny I mentally roll my eyes as I posed for my picture. After three snaps. I stood up,
" Damn you are on fire"  Sondra told me she was standing behind Hunter,I think my picture was displayed on the screen.
" Let me see" I said.
Sondra turned the laptop to face me "This one is perfect" she click on one and she wasn't wrong. I could feel Hunter's eyes on me.
" You are welcome, Joey " Andy said to me and I laughed.
" You are a better photographer Collins sucks" I said and he gave me a smug smile before he resumed snapping.
" I'll see you during lunch"  I told Sondra,
" Oh please, take her away" Andy said
Sondra glared at him."Fuck you Andy" She held my hand as we both walked out.
" I love you babe" Andy said aloud
And I watched Sondra as she smiled. They have been dating for a year and some months, I think they are the cutest couple. Andy really knows how to handle Sondra.
"Jo, what's up with you and Hunter?" Sondra asked as we walked down the hall.
I shrugged. " I don't know and I don't care..... Infact I'm glad he isn't bothering me anymore"
Sondra raised a brow at me. " Are you sure about that, you don't seem glad"
"I don't want to think about him can we talk about something else?"
                                                                     
"Hunter"
Max called out excitedly, we(ADRIoT GiRLS except Steph she is the president of the drama club and they are practicing for a musical which she is directing because Steve Austin's founders day is coming up soon) were all at the hallway as she spotted  Hunter. He turned immediately and I quickly turned to open my locker and pretended to be busy.
" Chang" Hunter said as he walked up to us they probably hugged. ( Hunter calls Max, Chang probably because of her Asian roots or he is just being and asshole because he calls me freckles and I don't even have freckles. He calls us his ADRIoT GiRLS, yeah he gave us the name, just Max and I before the Preacher twins and Maddie came we were in fourth grade and Andy told us Hunter just learnt the word adriot that day).
" Hey Hunter" Maddie said in a sultry voice I roll my eyes.
" Maddie" He said .
I don't want to know whatever they did to greet each other. Sondra slung her arm around my shoulder facing the locker with me while Max and Maddie faced Hunter.
" Stop acting weird" Sondra whispers
" I'm not acting weird, he is the one ignoring me" I whisper back.
Sondra scoffs. " Joey why don't you just call him and greet him like Max and Maddie just did he is your friend even if he is a dick"
" I told you I'm glad he has stopped bothering me so I don't need to greet him" I replied.
" Joey" Max called .
I turned, rejoicing in my head that Hunter left.
" What is going on?" She asks
" Nothing" I said.
" I mean Hunter just saw you" Max said.
I  forced a smile " I know I'm glad he has stopped bothering me"
Maddie chuckles " Or he is probably bored and tired of you"
"Maddie" Sondra warns.
" I was just saying" Maddie defends her self.
Max shook her head. " That's not possible we are his ADRIoT GiRLS his Freckles and Chang"
I laughed " You make it sound like he owns us"
The bell rings.
