Kenneth sat in the middle of a creek, listening to the sound of the rushing water and birds an animals. His horse was laying down next to him. He patted the horse who was the only one with him, but he didn't mind. Then he heard a rustling and turned his head to see a short brown haired country. He stood up instantly smiling at the girl.
"Heya! You must be Liensta!" He shouted.
Alfred had talked about her visiting, though Kenneth didn't think she would be visiting him. She smiled back at him and walked closer.
"Hello, yes I am." She said.
Ken could get the sense that she was nice. So he did what any other gentle man would have and shook her hand.
"Nice to met ya', Im Kenneth but friends call me Kenny."
None of his friends called him that.
He didn't even have friends.
"Nice to met you too. You're Kentucky right? I need some help traveling though the woods...Im kind of scared of bears..."
"Oh I see, I'll help ya' and if I see a bear I'll shoot it."
This did not help calm Liensta's fears at all. But she went along with it following the blonde into the woods. Then she heard the sound of something following them she turned around and screamed slightly, tripping over a branch. Ken caught her before she hit the ground in the same position you would be in if you caught someone on a trust fall.
"Oh that's my horse, his names Frank. Go on he won't bite."
Liensta reached her hand up and patted the beast in front of her and let out a chuckle.
"S-sorry Im just a bit tense," she turned around and hugged him.
He laughed blushing slightly. Before hugging back.
"So where are ya' going anyways?" he asked.
"Oh everywhere, I want to go everywhere in America it's quite nice." she said in a soft voice.
"Yep, yep...wanna flower crown?" he said holding out a string of daisies.
Liensta was told he'd do this, he gave everyone a flower crown. She took it and put it on smiling.
"Thank you."
"It was nothing...Now you ready to learn some information about the forest?" he asked raising an eyebrow.
She smiled and nodded. He pointed to a spiky caterpillar.
"This is a Wooly Worm, it won't hurt ya at all."
"But that one causes rashes doesn't it?" She said objecting.
"No, silly. It just a caterpillar, see look," he picked up the Wooly Worm, touched it, played with it, and let it crawl around his arm then set it back down, "its all fine."
They had to stop five minutes later because his arm started burning, they had to wrap it up because it had broke out into a rash.
Kenneth sat pouting on a rock scratching his arm.
"Okay, maybe I was wrong..." he mumbled and Liensta laughed.
"You think?"
He smiled then looked around the woods. And picked up a leaf.
"So I may not be very educated on bugs, but I do know that this is a oak leave." he said smiling proudly at the leaf.
It was not an oak leaf, it was poison Ivy, so they had to stop again. By now all of Kenneth's right arm was wrapped up.
"It looked like an oak leaf..." he explained, then his head shot up.
"Did ya' hear that?"Liensta turned around, she had heard it. It was a rustling in the woods. Ken stood up and grabbed his gun.
"I got this...GO AWAY BEAR! BE NICE!! WE DON'T WANNA HANG OUT RIGHT NOW BUDDY!!"
Kenneth screamed, before shooting his shotgun randomly in the direction of the noise. He turned towards Liensta.
"I'm gonna go check it out, okay? I'll be back!"
He ran off to see what it was and stuck his head in the bushes the sound came from. And walked back.
"It was only a squirrel..."
They walked for hours, Kenneth asking questions Liensta answering. Kenneth pretending like he knew nature, Liensta catching his bluff.
"Hey Lien? Wanna hear a song?" He asked her.
"Sure."
He pulled out his banjo and began to strike a few cords.
"It's called 'Michigan' by The Milk Carton Kids," then he began to sing,"
The clouds move over Pontiac skies
Their silent thunder matches mine
I know this feeling from long ago
I wondered was it gone, but now I know
So when she calls, don't send her my way
When it hurts, you'll know it's the right thing
Michigan's in the rear-view now
Keep your hands where I could see 'em
You took the words right out my mouth
When you knew that I would need 'em
What am I supposed to do now,
Without you
Without you." he finished.Liensta eyes widened.
"Wow Kenny that was great."
"Thanks! It's about once when Moonshine was outlawed but I still drank it so Michigan arrested me so I threatened to shoot him." he said smiling.
"What?"
"Nothing."
Things were finally starting to turn normal when suddenly they came across a turtle. Ken stopped dead in his tracks and pointed at it.
"Look it's my boss-Mitch!"
Liensta laughed so hard.
"You're so lucky he isn't here to hear you-"
Suddenly Mitch McConnell came out of the bushes and looked at Kenneth.
"You piece of shit." he said grabbing him by the arm and pulling him through the mud.
Kenneth sighed then with the other arm waved goodbye. Liensta waved back as Ken was dragged through the woods into politics and hell.
