I wake up screaming, and continue to scream until I realize where I am. I'm panting, my chest rising and falling rapidly, my blankets kicked down to my feet, cold sweat beading between my shoulder blades on my back.
Immediately, I turn to Stone, and I have to look him over about five times before I can sigh in relief, and collapse back on my blankets, pulling them back up to my chest, though my heart doesn't slow, the thumps it makes almost shaking my body.
Just a dream.
I shakily brush a strand of brown hair from my eyes. My fingers are shaking, trembling ever so slightly, so I almost end up poking myself int he eye.
Just a dream.
Stone had been standing there, shrouded in shadow, a lone soldier with twin blades that were unmistakably the same ones resting mere feet from me now. Cloaked and armored in the arrogant, proud fashion of the City, he had shot me down himself, eyes cold and hateful. But that would never happen.
Just a dream.
Something, though, about those dreams, warns me not to trust the boy with the swords.
