𝑳𝑼𝑵𝑪𝑯 𝑻𝑰𝑴𝑬(Y/n) held Mono's hand subtly in order to not attract the other kids' attention.
The two had avoided the other children playing and banging on the chairs and benches, sometimes shoving Mono when he accidentally got too close. The smell of smoke from the fire in the kitchen mixed with raw meat from the hall they came from and sweat from the children running around and all sorts of condiments thrown around only made them even more disgusting and horrible.
Thank god Mono had his paper mask, he wouldn't have to be smelling the air as powerful as (y/n) was.Ducking under tables as a way to go through the overwhelming and violent children, (y/n)'s stomach began to growl.
Hours of running and hiding and having to break things really wore out the 10 year old kid and apparently so did the other child as he was slowly falling behind.
Hearing Mono's stomach slightly rumble, the older kid knew exactly what to find the boy in order to seize his hunger.
(Y/n) could feel Mono cuddle in on the older child, attempting to hurry away from the other kids shoving him around and also to conceal their hands that were intertwined together.
Usually in a crowded room, sweat begins to form but since the moist is coming from the burning fires and is suffocating and the kids are glass and hallow, the room was cold.
The atmosphere around the two was terribly cold and the freezing temperature was eating Mono alive as his tiring eyes got the best of him from the lack of food and sleep.
(Y/n) slipped underneath a lunch table and right as they were about to crawl out, a pot fell right before them filled with untouched food inside it.
Mono jolted behind (y/n), hating that every turn was an ambush.
Everything in the world seemed unfair to the children similar to Six, Momo and (y/n). They could do nothing but run and hide while the others live their rebellious and dreaded lives.
Noticing the untouched and freshly cooked food was surprisingly sanitary enough for them to eat, (y/n) grabbed the cracked pit and pulled it under the table they hid in.
"What are you doing?" Momo whimpered out.
He quit complaining as soon as the smell of the baked potatoes and the warmth of the pot came in to his space.
(Y/n) took this opportunity and shoved their pockets with food, wanting to feed Mono and hopefully Six. The one they mainly worried was Mono as he fought for Six and Six would probably be starving by now as she is a girl and most likely suffered from the cold the worst.
(Y/n) on the other hand, wanted to feed the two younger kids as they seemed more of value to escape out from the place than themself.
It didn't matter to them if they made it or not. They'd like to die knowing they put up a fight in protecting the person who killed the man that caused malice to them.
They were in debt to him.
Once making it out the room, both children wandered down a hall, disturbed at the sight of children chocking one another, feeding each other their broken pieces and some where actually playing along with the others.
"I hate these crackheads." They groaned softly, following Mono across the hall that was cluttered in burnt papers and waste bins and child with lost hope.
They hummed along they song they sang before, catching Mono's attention of how unbothered they taller child was.
Once squeezing through a crack from a broken door, Momo tripped, cracking his mask.
He got up and attempted to carry his enemy's head but instead it al crumbled away.
"We won't need them anymore. I think we're safe enough now." They said, removing their mask off their head.
Mono nodded, following the kid."Once we get out of here, We're gonna find somewhere to sleep and eat there. Escaping takes days, so don't be in too much of a hurry. Well, right now we should hurry to find Six." (Y/n) explained.
Mono hung his head down, whispering a few words.
"Have you gone to school?" He asked, remembering the students, the game they had solved together and them complaining of the books being burnt at the library. They didn't respond right away. The silence between them was empty but at the same time loud.
"No. I was taught by the Hunter."
They mumbled out.Mono frowned underneath his bag.
He took to realization that the kid was taught and raised by his own tormentor and he had to kill them. As much as they were grateful for what they learnt on their way of escaping, it seemed like a betrayal or even a heaven sent to run from him — the child running from the person they got a roof over their head, food and education seemed to mean nothing if all they can remember were loud shots and bangs in the night. As disgusting as that cabin was, it was at a time called 'home'.
