Whatever it was she was doing to him she should be satisfied by now because it's working and it's driving Kane insane.
Soon afterwards, they decided to go back by just taking a walk on the sidewalk together. The weather was good and they could feel the freshness of the wind. Kane had his car with him but Yanarym suggested the idea—of course he would agree. Besides helping nature and saving gas, he could be with her longer.
"By the way, Kane, can I ask you a favor?"
"What kind of favor?"
"Can you look after Yasa while I'm not around? I will be more reassured if it's going to be you," she pleaded, clasping both her palms together, and looked at him with desperation.
"Why? Where are you going?" He asked so casually as if he was not so eager to know but he truly was.
Indeed, they were already comfortable with one another yet he knew nothing else about her other than her twin sister's condition. She wasn't willing to tell him stories about her life or even just simple things about her. Whenever he would try to ask her, she would just avoid it by changing the topic and ask things about him instead.
There was always this kind of look in her face, like she was hesitant about something. If today was just one of their normal days, then he wouldn't press her further about things like this. To make her feel uncomfortable was the last thing Kane wanted to happen, but things needed to change. In order to get close to her, he's willing to take the risk.
"If there's anything I can do to help you, just say it." He offered with a gentle smile to make her feel at ease around him and he thought it was effective. Yanarym's expression softened then smiled back at him.
"I know that you are a nice person, Kane. But if you're always going to be like that towards me, I couldn't help but assume there's something more." Yanarym confessed, slightly bowing her head to try to lessen the awkwardness it had caused between them. "You should have declined me, that was too personal for a request. You shouldn't be nice to just anyone. It's dangerous, it might give them the notion that you like them too."
"I am not nice, Rym." He firmly replied. He was about to justify himself but Yanarym cut him off.
"I'm an actress, but a nameless one. You seem like the type who seldom watches movies or the television, so I know it's impossible for you to recognize someone like me. I'm a complete stranger to you," she said softly, smiling yet there was no hint of happiness.
"Honestly, I've liked you from the day I got to know you, Kane. But I just recently had the courage to get close to you, I... I know my place! I swear! I'm not asking for anything more than what we have now. I'm just happy to be your friend."
"You see, we're different from each other. You're far too out of my league and I won't even dare overestimate myself by taking a chance on you. Besides, I don't have time for dating. I have my sister to take care of and she's very important to me. I love her so much I can't be happy when she's still like that."
Kane couldn't find the words to say. What else could he say, anyway? After all, she already rejected him without even giving him the chance to open up his feelings for her.
Moreover, he understood her point. And the idea of being entangled with the line of work she had was the least thing he would want to happen to him. He spent his childhood wanting to become a simple hard-working doctor. Yanarym gave him a favor, she drew the line for him. It was the right thing to do, yet there was this weird feeling screaming to him, that this was off... It feels wrong that this was happening. Kane felt anxious and restless, he could feel himself breaking out in cold sweat.
Is that it? She doesn't want to take it further? Just friends? Of course, he wanted to disapprove but they both knew this was all for the better. He should respect her wishes.
"I'm not sure how long it will take for me to visit again. I told you before, I lost my phone. But you can call my management. I'll give you the calling card later."
"Sure. By the way, what's the movie you're in? I want to watch it." Yanarym's face flushed from his sudden randomness.
"I'm only an extra. I usually have a few lines and seconds of exposure." Kane laughed at her adorable reaction.
He subconsciously reached out for her blushing cheeks and pinched them. He then noticed the small gap between them, instantly making him let go of her cheeks as if he was burnt by the warmth of her skin. Her embarrassed state was too much for him to handle. He might have kissed already if he didn't know what self-restraint was.
They have both decided that they will not take further action about their relationship—but why was he acting all mushy with her? The atmosphere became awkward and they got back to Yarisa's room without holding a proper conversation.
"We're back! Well, then, Kane, save more lives! Good luck!" She exclaimed cheerfully, trying to brush off the awkwardness between them.
"Tonight, let's have dinner." The young man said with determination just as she was about to close the door.
"Kane..."
"It's just dinner," he interrupted before she could even decline his offer.
"Okay, then. I'll try to give my share of payment so we can't dine at high ends, okay?" Kane smiled happily and muffled her hair.
"Okay." It was already past midnight and there was still no sign of Kane.
Guide-sama: "Yanarym, the doctor can't come. Why are you still waiting?"
