"Yeah. So guess what?" Tasha asked her best friend Martha over the phone.

She had been so busy celebrating the day before that she completely forgot to tell her the good news before she slept off

"You got the job?" It wasn't that hard to guess, since her life has always been uneventful and the only surprising thing that could happen was her getting the job. But Tasha didn't think that, she thought her friend had known about it beforehand, so she queried her.

"How did you know?"

"So you really did. Aaaaaah... Congratulations!!" Tasha brought the phone away from her ear till she was sure that her friend was no longer screaming.

"How did it happen! Tell me about it. I want to hear every single detail." Martha was known to be a busy body, so it was no surprise that she would ask such a question, moreover she was truly happy for her friend.

"So I was so late when I got there, but I still managed to get interviewed. They asked me some questions and yah know, your friend aced it like a supe" She explained and of course didn't forget to praise herself in the process.

"Oh my God, Tasha! This is huge. Like, I want to hear what happened during the interview. One of my friends who applied said their questions were so hard that she almost passed out on the spot".

Wait, what was she talking about? She couldn't say the questions were hard since they were all personal and all she had to reply with was a yes or no.

"No, they only asked some personal questions" She felt the need to expose that lying friend of Martha's.

"Like?" Martha couldn't help but ask. She wasn't enjoying how she had to dig to get Tasha to spill what was in her mind.

"My age, my family, relationship status, and whether I was a virgin or not and some other weird questions." She found it all strange, as she explained to Martha. She had thought it was weird too, but hadn't gotten to think deeply about it since she was so busy celebrating.

"Wait, they asked you that? And then? "

Tasha was already getting scared by now. Had she made a fool out of herself yesterday, or did they decide to punish her for her lateness yesterday by playing a prank on her? But this prank was too... Expensive?

"And they asked me if I checked the terms and conditions already"

"Then what did you say? "

"I... I... I said yes."

"Oh my Goodness Tasha what have you done? OK fine, you lied and then?"

"Then I was asked to sign a contract. And then they said they'd mail the other information".

"Wait, so let me get this straight. You were asked to sign a contract? Is that even a thing?" Martha was so confused at this point. What kind of job requires you to sign a contract? For God's sake, this wasn't the entertainment industry.

"Yeah a contract and I signed my name down below, and they were all smiles as they congratulated me" At the point, Tasha could swear she was extremely scared of the What ifs that came to her mind.

"Don't tell me you didn't read the content"

"I didn't"

"Oh my God! Oh my God!! OK. Calm down. I am coming over now" The sound of the door shutting could be heard, and Martha rummaged through her bag for a while before finally finding the keys. It was at the most obvious spot, but because of her jumbled state of mind she didn't notice it.

....

"You mean you don't know what you applied for? " Tasha was going crazy by now. How was she supposed to resume to work if she didn't even know what she was supposed to do?

"No, I... I didn't bother to check when I saw that it was for C&J groups. Any job is fine, in fact, their cleaner's salary is higher than mine."

"OK, am not blaming you. Tell me the website you read it from".

And with that they both rushed to where the computer was sat unused. Cather was the first to reach, so of course she took the seat first.

After keying in her password, she quickly logged on the site Martha mentioned. Soon after, the result was displayed on the screen, in which C&J's group logo was displayed proudly on the front page.

It was a known fact that as reputable as the name of the company was, there was no way anyone could impersonate it as it could result in death sentence even before the government interferes, so none of the website dared to post any false information about it.

She was shocked dumb when she saw the so-called job her friend Martha applied for, and she found herself unable to close her mouth.

The post clearly stated that they needed a 'Caretaker.' A freaking care taker. So she was going to work as a caretaker? No way! She would rather die than do that sort of job.

She cast a deathly glare at the culprit beside her, who was now blinking innocently and resisted the urge to strangle her.

"What did you just do?"

"What did I just do? I was helping you. I swear"

"I'd rather stay unemployed than do this kind of job. Never".

"But. But you still have the rent for last year to pay, plus this year. Plus, the pay they are offering is high. Even higher than my five months salary combined." Her friend tried to reason, as she knew there was no way she could force Tasha to do the job.

Tasha groaned and shook her head stubbornly.

"No no no I have to live with someone or some people I don't know for a year because of the high pay? As a caretaker?"

"Listen to yourself Tasha, OK fine I admit this job might not sound so good but so what? I insist on you taking it up, moreover the terms here clearly states no backing out after being employed".

Tasha groaned unhappily and rolled on the bed. She also knew she had no choice, it wasn't like any other company would employ her. With that in mind, she stared at her friend's pleading eyes before replying.

"OK. Fine, I'll do it".
