Chapter 19

Taehyung sat across from Sooae, smiling from ear to ear.

"How's things with you and Hyunwook Hyung?"

"Things have been going great! It's like we never broke up. I really can't thank you enough for encouraging me to go to him. If you hadn't we may have not had this second chance."

"I'm glad. It's really sad how parents don't understand when their kids love someone. Hopefully your parents will understand this time around."

She shrugged and sipped her coffee. "Who knows but I don't care this time. I'm done trying to please everyone else and putting myself last."

"That's the spirit! Oh yeah Noona, I know I sent you the first down payment for the venue but the money was returned to my account. Was something wrong?"

"Well about that..." She trailed off, making Taehyung give her his undivided attention. "Eunhui-ssi came up to me and gave me a blank check. She told me to pay for the venue in whole."

"What?" If Sooae didn't have such a serious look on her he would have thought she was pranking him.

"Yeah, she wants to pay for the wedding but she knew you guys would deny so she asked me to pay for it in secret. Since you asked me, I couldn't lie to you."

"I wonder why she decided to do that."

Sooae smiled. "Maybe this is her way of giving her approval."

"Maybe." His cell phone buzzed and he glanced at it. "Holy shit."

"What?"

"His mother just asked me to have lunch with her tomorrow. Just us."

"Really?"

Taehyung then looked at her. "If I go missing you know what happened." He said making Sooae laugh.

"I don't think she would do that, knowing her son would cause hell if you disappeared."

Taehyung laughed. "That is true. I don't even want to think about what Jin would do if that happened."

"Me neither. That's a scary thought." She laughed.

"Hey guys, am I late?" Jimin rushed to the table with Jungkook trailing behind him.

"Just so you know, me and Mica-yah were ready but Jimin was late."

"Hush! You don't understand yet what it's like getting two boys ready. One is losing their sock, the other can't find their shoe. Wait until Micha starts walking it's over."

They all laughed.

Taehyung held out his arms and Jungkook handed him the small pup who was asleep.

"Did we miss anything good?" Jungkook asked.

"My mother-in-law to be, invited me to lunch tomorrow."

"What?" Jimin and Jungkook looked at him.

"Tell the restaurant you're going to and I'll be sure to have a search party for you." Jimin said.

Sooae laughed out.

"See Noona, I'm not the only one who thinks that!"

"Will this be your first one on one with her?" Jungkook asked.

"Yes. And anxiety is already through the roof. Should I tell Jin?"

"Yes." Jimin said. "Just let him know and go from there."

Taehyung nodded. "True. I'll tell him tonight."

During the rest of the day Taehyung couldn't get his mind off the text message his estranged mother-in-law to be sent. He kept reading to make sure he wasn't going crazy and imaging it. But every time he opened his messages he saw hers at the top asking him to have lunch with her. Him saying sure and her sending the address. He of course looked up the restaurant and it was a top tier five star place. Sure he's been to plenty of five star restaurants but just with Seokjin. Now he was going alone with Eunhui and he was trying to remember all the proper table etiquette he had learned throughout the years. Finishing work was dreadful and his concentration wasn't there so he ended up leaving on time, saying goodnight to Jiyoung and Geun who stayed behind.
