The next morning Seokjin woke up early. He looked over next to him at the spot Taehyung would have been in if they still lived together. A sigh escaped his lips and he told himself just a few more months. He showered, got dressed and headed into work. Since Taehyung went out, he figured the omega was probably still sleeping.
He sat in his office and rubbed his temples. His morning massage was interrupted by the phone suddenly ringing. With a huff he answered.
"Hello?"
"Seokjin, I'm surprised you're at your office." His mother said.
"Yeah, I wanted to finish some things up."
"Ok, I'm going to stop by. I want to talk about something."
"Ok."
"Did you eat?"
"Not yet."
"I'll bring breakfast, see you soon."
"See you soon." He hung up. What in the world did his mother have to say? He wondered if it was good or bad.
It wasn't long before his mother came with breakfast. A part of him was happy because he was hungry.
"How's things going between you and Taehyung?"
He looked at her before looking back at his food.
"We're good."
"Are you still living apart?"
"Yes, he wants to stay that way until after the wedding?"
Eunhui nodded. "What was his reason again?"
"For us to gain independence."
"I see..." She trailed off. "Jin, how often have you two been spending time together?"
"We spend it often. Why?" He gave his mother a knowing look.
"I'm just saying that sometimes it's not uncommon for couples to drift apart before getting married."
He sighed. "We're not drifting apart. We're doing just fine."
"But Sooae told me how you confided in her about your concerns about Taehyung. Is he acting strange?"
"It's just about the wedding. I wanted to make sure he was comfortable because I know you can be controlling."
"He doesn't say much. When you're not around, he's not invested at all that's why I started to make the decisions."
Seokjin looked at his mother. "He didn't seem that way in the beginning."
"Things change honey. Listen, I'm not trying to ruin your relationship or anything. Those days are far behind us but I think it's important for you to keep your eyes open."
Seokjin scoffed. "Keep my eyes open to what? I know Taehyung would never cheat on me."
"Don't be too sure."
"I am." He assured her.
She reached into her briefcase and pulled out a Manila folder, handing it to him.
"What's this?" Seokjin asked. But she just sipped her tea instead. The younger alpha sighed and opened the folder. He stared at the photos of Taehyung at the bar with his manager.
"You hired a private investigator to watch him?"
"You can never be too sure. We are a family of prestige, we need to make sure every person entering has pure intentions. I did the same thing to Chunja and Hwa-Young's partners." She sipped her tea. "But Taehyung is the first time I've actually found something."
