Year 3…

"Hey Allen, I've got a case that might interest you," Alex said, handing him a folder full of files and pictures. "Witnesses saw a guy wearing a winter coat and strange glasses and other known felons around Gustin and Benoist."

"A guy in a winter coat, strange glasses, 10-mile radius turned cold in a matter of seconds," Barry listed off as he read the file before all the MO connected and his eyes widened. "This is Captain Cold!" He exclaimed excitedly, grabbing Kara's attention out of her meticulous report.

"Who's Captain Cold?" Kara asked.

"He's basically my Hans Gruber. I've been trying to catch this guy for years but he always manages to stay ten steps ahead of me. All we know about him is his looks and MO but other than we've got nada."

"Maybe you are just not as good as a detective that you claim you are, Pineapples." Kara teased, knowing how to press his buttons.

For the last three years, both of them have annoyed and teased each other, thinking of new ways to tease each other. For Barry, he always teases her about her uptightness and his sex tape jokes. Meanwhile, for Kara, she teases him when her number of arrests is higher than Barry's, as well as, calling her Pineapples the moment he let slip that his grandma called him that.

"Oh really? Wanna bet?" Barry dared her, knowing that her competitiveness is so strong that she will accept his dare without thinking too much about it.

"What are the stakes?" Kara asked, making Barry smirk.

"The first one that manages to catch Captain Cold within the week would make the loser do his or her paperwork."

"Deal," Kara held out her hand, which Barry took, and shook it. "Joke's on you, I love paperwork."

"That's not a brag and barely an insult," Barry said before pulling his hands away and calling Cisco to join him to catch Captain Cold while Kara did the same with Alex.

Long story short, both of them were unsuccessful in catching Captain Cold, and now the two of them are sitting at STAR Bar sipping on their beers, unwinding after the exhausting week of playing cat and mouse with a professional thief.

"We'll catch him next time, Allen," Kara reassured as she took a swig of her beer. "The two best detectives in Central City are hot on his tail."

"Aw, you admitted to me being the best detective in all Central City." Barry teased.

"Second best. I'm still the first best." Kara retorted before they shared a laugh before it died down but there are still smiles on their faces.

"Thanks, by the way, for paying for these drinks. I'm hella broke." Barry said as Kara snapped her head to him, making her a little dizzy, the smile now gone on her face and now replaced by confusion.

"Wait, I thought you were paying for these drinks," Kara said, making Barry look at her incredulously.

"I'm in debt, why would I pay for beers? They're like five dollars a bottle." Barry said as he placed his beer on the table in front of them.

"You own three massage chairs!"

"Well, yeah, I'm in debt, I'm not a monster. Plus, they don't make massage couches, so it's their fault." Barry retorted, making Kara look at her in shock.

How could a man in his late-twenties be so immature? Kara doesn't know for sure.

"Well, I can't pay for the beers. I left my wallet back in the precinct." Kara said, trying to think of solutions to their current predicament. She turned to look at Barry to see if he is thinking too about how they are going to handle their problem but she just catches him smiling mischievously at her, his eyes darting between the bartender, her, and his car that is parked in front of the bar.

She immediately knew what that look meant. That look meant trouble.

"No, Barry, don't even-" She was, however, cut off by Barry pulling her along with him, leaving the almost empty beer bottles on the table and an angry bartender on their wake as Barry dragged her along until they reached his car and drove away.

"What the hell, Barry? We're cops! We're not supposed to do that, we're supposed to be a good example!" She reprimanded him, both of them now fully sober, as he continued to drive.

"Don't get your panties in a twist, Danvers. I'm going to go back there in the morning and I'll pay for our drinks." He reassured her, even giving her a small smile. A genuine one, not a teasing one.

She calmed down a bit at his reassuring words.

"But I thought you were in debt." Kara commented as he looked at her with confusion.

"I think the most apt description would be crushing debt but yeah, I am. I guess I'll just have to sacrifice a few minutes away from my massage chairs." Barry said, nonchalantly but to Kara, his statement amazed her, she hasn't seen this side of Barry before. The side that could very well be her friend, maybe even her best friend.

"That's very mature of you." She praised him, giving him a small smile.

He just smiled at her before he turned his eyes back on the road to focus on it.
