To Be Loved (Teacher/Student)

Chapter 7

Jessie's POV

When we entered the house we were greeted by warm hugs.

"I just knew you were coming, Gregg didn't believe me but I told him you would." My 'Grandma' Gracie basically screamed in my ear while hugging me.

"Yeah yeah Grace just let her go, poor thing can't breathe."

She scoffed but let me go and walked over to James and picked him up. "How's my little man doing?"

"I'm fine Grandma." He hugged her and she let him down so he could go see Gregg.

"Hey Sport, you're getting taller every day." He gave him a high five and ruffled his hair.

I walked over to Grandpa Gregg and gave him a hug, "you feeling better Grandpa?"

He simply nodded his head and said, "Yeah the Mrs. have been taking great care of me and I successfully healed.

Gracie entered the kitchen to check on the food that she was cooking. "You kids hungry, coincidently I made James’  favorite meal."

"Uh, no ma'am, we just got finished eating not too long ago." I answered while taking a seat on the couch.

"Yeah, Jessie hass a boyfwiend that took uss to get ssomething to eat." James said in a teasing voice.

I hit in lightly in the arm, "thanks a lot Bug Head." He just stuck his tongue out at me.

"Oh really, and who is this lucky guy?" Grandpa Gregg asked while raising his eyebrow.

I blushed because truth be told, I really didn't want to tell them my Human Phys. teacher took my brother and I out to eat.

"Um, j-just a guy from school" I stuttered.

"Gregg!" Grandma Gracie said.

"Yes Dear?"

"She's not telling the whole truth, I can tell."

I gulped knowing she wasn't going to give up just yet. She was going to get the truth out of me no matter what.

They gave me the death stare because they know I can't handle being under pressure. Just after 15 seconds, I gave in.

"Okay okay. He's not just a guy from school, he's my teacher."

Their expression went from shocked to smug.

"Well there's something you should know about us child." Gracie said.

"Yeah, something we never told you. When we were in high school, Mrs. Gracie was my teacher and we had a secret relationship." Gregg said while grabbing Gracie's hand.

They looked into each other's eyes with something I'm yearning for, passion and love.

'Yeah, well you had that when Mr. Pierce was looking at you.' An unwanted voice said in my head.

'No one asked you, so why don't you just mind your own business?' I thought back.

'I am your own business, the more smart part of your business. Mr. Pierce wants to be there for you and you just keep blowing him off like leaves in the fall. I can't believe the first person that shows interest in you, you don't want anything to do with them. I can't believe you!'

I shut my mind voice up and turned back to face my grandparents. They were looking at me with knowing facial expressions.

"Call him; tell him I want to meet him." Gracie said.

"But grandma I don't know if..." I was cut off.

"Do it! I won't let him slip from you like I almost let Gregg slip from me."

I hesitated for a moment before I picked up the phone. It didn't even ring two times before he picked up.

"Are you all right Jessie, do you need me to come get you? I'm just around the corner at the store, I can come right away, I can..." He spoke so fast I had to cut him off.

"Mr. Pierce! Slow down, we're fine!" I said with an invisible smile on my face.

"Oh, well what is it I can honor you with?" He asked in a much more calm voice.

"Um, my grandparents want to meet you." I said nervously.

"OK, I'm over there in a second. See you there beautiful." He hung up before I had the chance to reply.

I hung up and stood outside to wait for him.

Like one minute later he pulled up in the driveway and rushed out of the car.

He caressed my head to check and see if I was OK.

"I'm fine Mr. Pierce! Come in to meet my folks." I lead him into the house and introduced them.

"UH, Mr. Pierce this is my Grandma Gracie and my Grandpa Gregg. This is Mr. Pierce, my Human Phys. Teacher."

He took my Grandma's hand and kissed it. "What a lovely home you have Gracie, but please call me Andrew." He said that while looking at me.

I blushed slightly and gazed down at the floor.

He went to shake my Grandpa's hand and said, "It's a pleasure to meet you Gregg."

"Well, you seem like a lovely young man. Just make sure you treat her right or you'll have to personally have to see me."

"With all my heart, she will be the number one lady in my life." He bowed and put his hand over his heart.

"Now, where's my main man James?" He asked looking around in search of him.

"Well he was right here a second ago..." I said but stopped short when I seen he fell asleep on the couch. I went to take him to his room when we stayed here but Mr. Pierce stopped me.

"Just show me where his room is and I'll take him." He smiled.

I nodded my head and lead him upstairs to James' room.

"Here we are. Please be gentle!" I pleaded.

He looked at me with a smirk, "I promise to never let harm come your, I mean his way."

He put him down on his bed and as I was about to walk out of the room, he stopped me. When he grabbed a hold of my arm I felt tingles spread from my toes to all through my body.

"Listen, I know that I'm your teacher and all, but don't let that get in the way of what could become something special between the both of us. I like you Jessie, I really do. I want you to trust me, trust that I want what's best for you and James. Just tell me what's bothering you so I can make it all better."

I shook my head, "no, I don't want to be a burden. I don't want to drag you into my family problems and put you in the middle of my drama filled life; that wouldn't do anything but draw you further away from me so please, just drop it." I tried to get out of his grip but stopped after a few failed attempts.

"Jessie look at me. I'm feeling something for you that I have never felt in my life. Every time I look at you I get a tingly feeling, and then whenever I see you smile I get all warm inside. That has never happened to me in my life. You are someone special and someday, I'm going to make you mine. Gosh I sound all gushy and I just met you today." He finished with a smile on his face.

He winked at me and gave me a peck on my cheek.

My face heated up and I watched him leave the room, but not before turning to me with a smirk on his face.

I put my hand on my heart because I could feel how fast it was beating.

That man was going to be the death of me, I just know it.
