Third Person's POV
The woman sitting in her living room of a small apartment due to a break up heard her phone buzz and instantly knew it was a text message.
When she opened her phone, it was from a number unfamiliar to her, but she knew what it was about.
The text read,
-Local diner in 5...don't be late!
She closed the message and grabbed a sweater before making her way out of her house to head to said diner.
When she arrived her hands were beginning to sweat because she knew what the business was about, but didn't know what to expect.
Entering the diner, she went up to the counter to sit down. She ordered an apple pie and looked around the café for any signs of the mysterious man.
When she came up empty, she turned back towards the counter and waited for her pie to be done. A minute passed and she then felt a presence taking a seat to the side of her.
He had a cigarette in his mouth even though there was no smoking allowed in here.
"Sir, there's no smoking in my diner. You either put that cig out or walk right back outside that door to finish out," a male, the owner of the diner, commanded with a thick southern accent.
He took a long drag and put the fire of the cigarette out. He blew the smoke in her face causing her to cough and wave her hand to rid the cloud.
"Did you get it done?" He asked while staring her in her eyes.
"Yes," she replied while turning from his stare and eating from the pie that was given to her.
"Were you seen?" He asked again while taking her pie and eating it.
"Hey that was mine!" She yelled trying to reach for it but he held it out of her reach.
"Liar! You DIDN'T get the job done. Apparently the girl and the boy weren't in the house; there were no dead bodies. Boss is angry and is growing impatient." He took another bite of the pie.
Her eyes bugged, "I-I d-didn't know they weren't inside! I s-swear to you I thought they were in there." She was growing nervous.
"But they weren't. Boss said he won't tolorate failure anymore."
With confidence she said, "tell the boss he has nothing to worry about because before you know it, Jessica and James Corvel will be no more!" She paid her bill and rushed out of her seat, but not before his hand stopped her.
"Boss is giving you two weeks to get the job done." As he told her this, she scowled with attitude.
That wasn't enough time! She thought. Everything had to be perfect so there wasn't any evidence.
Taking the scowl as a challenge, he began smirking, "don't forget we know who you are. You are not one of a kind, there are many others like you. He only chose you because you two have something in common. Mess up and he will not hesitate to kill you." With a final squeeze of her arm, the mysterious man left and took off on his Harley.
Her body began to shake at the threat that was made towards her.Looking at the half eaten dessert, she decided she no longer had the taste for pie and made her way home.
She had to devise a plan that will fit in the small time window she was given.
She knew from then on she would have to start doing some snooping and digging around for some info.
