Alex and Keagan

Chapter 7

"Y-you love me?" I stuttered. I can't believe he just said that. How could he love me?

"Yes" Alex said. "I mean it Keagan, and I can explain."

"Go ahead I'm all ears" I said.

"Well when I first met Henry we hit it off right away and we have been friends ever since. The first time I went over your house Henry stopped me from going in and said that you would be home." Alex said and I gave him a confused look. He kept explaining, "he told me that you were off limits that I should stay away from you. I just did what he said, he was my only real friend I had at the time, and I didn't want to ruin it. The first time I saw you I thought you were beautiful, but I made a promise to myself that I would never talk to you, because if I did I'd never be able to stay away." He was looking straight into my eyes, and I had to look away, it was to intense.

"Over time I got to know you, just from watching from a far. I know it sounds creepy but it was the only way. I regret never talking to you Keagan. I know it seems like I have the wrong intensions but I plan to prove to you that I really do love you" Alex said.

I was speechless. Was he actually serious? What do I say to that? I mean I like Alex too, I might even love him, but I'm not letting my guard down now. If he really does love me then he will have to show it.

"If you are really telling me the truth, then I want proof. You are going to have to fight for my love. Its not going to come so easily" I told him.

His eyes widened in hope. "I swear Keagan I will do everything and anything to show you how much you mean to me" he said.

I gave him a small smile and yawned. This day was so long, and in so tired. All I want to do is sleep.

"Are you tired?" He asked.

"Yes, it's been a long day" I told him.

He nodded understanding. "Follow me" he said and he got up off the couch and started walking up the stairs towards his room.

He pulled out a pair of his boxers an a shirt and handed it to me. "You can change in my bathroom" he said pointing to the door on the right.

I changed into his clothes and folded mine neatly and left them in the bathroom. When I walked back into the room Alex was shirtless and had change into sweatpants. I could help but stare at his naked chest.

I looked up and noticed him looking at me too. His clothes were to big on my and the shirt covered the boxers making it seem I was wearing anything underneath.

He looked back at my eyes. "You can take my bed, and I'll sleep downstairs on the couch"

"Are you sure? I can sleep on the couch" I said.

He laughed. "I'm sure Keagan, just call if you need me" he said.

I climbed into bed and got comfortable. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight. I looked over at the door and saw Alex still standing there watching.

"I love you, goodnight" he said and walked away without waiting for a response from me.

I can't believe he said he loves me. I want to be able to love, but my idiot brother just made it 10 times harder. How am I ever supposed to let my guard down and love when I'm not even sure if the person really loves me or the money that they would get if I said I loved them too.

I really don't want to think about any of this tonight, I just want to sleep. I closed my eyes and started to think of puppies to help me fall asleep.

<<<<<<Alex's POV>>>>>>

I woke up to a murderous scream. It was coming from upstairs. I grabbed my baseball bat from the hall closet and ran upstairs as fast as I can.

I ran into Hayley's room but she was sound asleep. I looked around the room, and then I remembered. Keagan.

I forgot Keagan was staying the night. I heard another scream and I ran as fast as I could to my room. I would kill anyone who even laid a finger on Keagan, and I'm about to now.

I stormed into my room to find Keagan awake crying on my bed, with no one else in sight.

I dropped my bat into the floor, and ran over and brought her into my arms.
She was shaking uncontrollably.

"Keagan what's wrong?" I asked her rubbing her back to try to calm her down.

"It's going to be okay." I whispered into her ear. "Shhh, I've got you now everything is going to be all right"

It took her a couple more minutes to calm down, and she pulled away from me slightly so she can look at me.

"I'm sorry for waking you." She whispers.

"I'm not" I said back. "Keagan if you ever need me I'm here for you. Can you tell me why you were screaming?"

"I was having a nightmare" she said.

"Do you have those a lot?" I asked. I can't imagine her having these every night, and I wouldn't be there to help her.

"No" she whispers.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I asked.

"Tomorrow" she whispered.

"Okay, tomorrow" I let her go and laid her back down into the bed.

I got up to go back down to the couch "wait" she said.

"What's wrong, sweetheart?" I asked.

"Stay" she said patting the space on the bed next to her. "Please"

I nodded and climbed into bed with her. "Hold me" she whispered.

She didn't have to tell me twice. I wrapped my arms around her and brought her close to me. I really love this girl, and I'll do anything to show her that.

I kissed her on the forehead. "Goodnight princess" I said

"Goodnight, my knight and shinning armor" she whispered.

I laughed at that. A couple minutes later her breathing evened out. She finally fell back asleep.

I slowly fell into an even breathing to and fell asleep. Tomorrow I will make everything better for her. No more nightmares. Tomorrow I'll show her how much I love her.
