Chapter 4: Questions And Answers

"New Intel, new problems"

A few hours after the battle had ended, Shadow was in his room. Rouge then walked in and sat by him "Got some news."
"Lay it on me."
"I found Sonic."
Shadow's face shifted to show concern "Where is he?"
"Unfortunately, on the Death Egg. No way of reaching him."
"What's been happening to him, is he ok?"
"Also an unfortunately no. They've been torturing him... What I saw... It was like they were trying to get something out of him, and I'm not talking about mentally."
"What could it be?"
"I don't know... But then I also don't know how he's survived that much electricity."
"While you were snooping around, you spotted Tails by any chance?"
"Silver said he had a lead."
"That doesn't answer my question. Did you spot him?"
"No. How's Dare?"
"Fine... Fine..."
"Least she's doing okay." Rouge said, putting her hand on his shoulder. Shadow simply sighed.

-Meanwhile-

Dare and Arnec were walking around Resistance HQ. Dare looked over at him "So... What's with the wings?"
"Oh, them? Well you can obviously tell I'm not a normal person. I'm actually part demon, Father's side... But, I decided to join the Resistance because I could use my powers to help people. Also thought I could have some fun, helping save the world. Where are you from?" Arnec said, keeping his hands in his pockets. Dare blushed embarrassingly but smiled "I'm from Space Colony ARK."
"That old abandoned thing that's in orbit? Looks like the death egg but not ugly?"
"I think that's the place!" Dare responded, her blush fading. Arnec smiled "Must be cool, being from space. Not many can say that."
"Must be cool to be part demon."
"Can be... Can be..."
"What do you mean?" Dare asked as they stopped. Arnec sighed "Most just hear the demon part and instantly think I'm out to backstab them."
"Oh... I'm sorry. You're actually a nice guy."
"You know, nobody has ever said that to me before?" Arnec said, smiling as he looked at his boots. Dare smiled "Really?"
"Yeah. One of the other reasons for joining. Was hopin' I'd meet someone who could look past my heritage."
It was quiet as they looked at each other. Amy then walked by "Arnec, you're needed over at the garrison."
"Oh... Ok." Arnec said, looking over at Dare. "...Maybe we could talk again? I know a good place to hang out!"
"Umm... Yeah!" Dare responded. Arnec smiled as he pulled out a small piece of paper and wrote something on it. "Here, my radio frequency, 3.703. If you wanna, I'm almost always available to talk to."
"Ok, thanks!" Dare said as her and Arnec shook hands. Arnec turned and looked at Amy before heading off with her. Shadow sighed as he walked put of his room, Rouge beside him "Get Omega, I'm ordering up a rescue mission."
"How we doing it?" Rouge asked. Shadow smirked "We'll need a ship. Space port has some that I know Eggman wouldn't mind handing over, enough force applied."
"It'll be three of us. And I still haven't got a lead on whoever attacked him."
Rouge said as her and Shadow walked by Dare. Dare ran up to Shadow "Is there anything I can do?"
"No, me and Team Dark can do this. I'd ask Silver, he's been hunting for Tails."
"I haven't met him before. What's he look like? Besides being silver I assume."
"Yellow eyes, dark eyeliner, dark and light blues for his boots, with some cyan glowing bits. Best I can do."
"You sure know a lot about how he looks." Rouge said, raising an eyebrow. Shadow shook his head "Always had a thing about him. Dunno what... Just felt familiar. So I've tried to get close."
"I'll go see if he needs me, good luck!" Dare said, waving as she left. Shadow simply nodded before him and Rouge entered the command room. Amy was there, although Arnec had left. "Amy, I need you to do something for me."
"What is it?"
"I need Knuckles and a couple of others to attack Arsenal Pyramid. While they're doing that, me and Team Dark will strike Space Port so we can get some ships. That'll allow air raids and we can possibly do a rescue mission. And if Knuckles says he's not following my orders, tell him I'll crush that emerald of his!"
"OK maybe not the last part, but I'll give him the orders."
"Good enough." Shadow responded before heading out the door...
